A cottage stay tha necessitated contacting the hosts beforehand. The phone was not answered & messages were not returned. Forced o turn up & hope for the best.

Mørk og elendig lejlighed

Der var mørkt og fugtigt og lugtede da vi ankom. Betalte for 5 personer, men ud over et ekstra håndklæde var der ikke faciliteter til 5 personer.

Very unorganized stay.

Booked with conformation of booking. Arrived not knowing how to get key. Phoned number on paperwork, no answer. Phoned number on sign. Lady rang us back not knowing we were coming. Owner didn't pass on info, apparently happens alot. Had to wait until 6pm to get in. Door to cottage wouldn't lock, had to leave it unlocked for a night and day, unsafe. One piece of wood for fire, no paper or kindling. Let lady know who fixed it the next day. She was very helpful and put in a terrible situation. Would not recommend going there.

I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone . Unfortunately for us the three nights we had to stay (as we could not get our money back )the stove didn't work at all so no meals were prepared at night microwave was very small The bath room had a hole in floor when you stepped out of the shower which leaked and ran all over the floor When we arrived the owner was nowhere to be found and wouldn't answer the phone our only contact was the house next door who was good enough to get some information for us as we had booked on line

Tired and dark, needs a good refresh.

We stayed in the two bedroom side, which faces south and was incredibly dark. The bedrooms were large and lovely, but even with every light on, the living area felt sad and dark. The sofa and chair were very old and in need of a refresh, and the space quite cramped, not a pleasant place to relax like we had hoped. We stayed in summer and the house was cold with a damp smell. Although there was firewood in the shed, there was no kindling, or axe to cut our own, and not firelighters ir paper provided in anycase. The little electric heaters did their best, but weren't really up to the task. The kitchen was a little difficult to use, with buckled frypans that didn't work well on an electric hot plate, and just one built in oven tray which was dirty (and no tinfoil or baking paper to cover it). With a toddler in tow, we like to cook meals at home when we can, but after the first night decided to just eat out instead, except for really basic, uncooked meals. There are no laundry facilities on site, and the garden was overgrown and not appropriate for our toddler to play in. Bathroom was acceptable, with a shower over a built in tub. Plentiful, warm water, but coukd beca problem if you have mobility issues. We seriously considered just burning the money we paid to stay and moving on to our next location early. The other cottage might have been nicer though, it was on the north side, so would have had much better light, and faced the large rear garden, instead of a road.

Cottage very tired

Decor very old but not quality. Grounds unkept. Property up for sale, appeared as if no one was really interested. Property not a 3 1/2 star.

Honeymoon

It was a quaint little cottage in keeping with a town like Strahan. We spent two nights in the middle of our Tasmanian honeymoon and the cottage had everything that met our needs. Wood fire made evenings romantic as did the comfortable king size bed. We were given a little gift from owners which was unexpected and appreciated.

Rustic cottage

Although old it vert comfortable. Does need some maintenance but the owners have it on the market. We enjoyed it

We had a health emergency during our stay. There should be emergency numbers displayed in prominent position in case of emergency.

Great couples retrest

Loved these cute cotttages. Well setup for longer stay. Warm and cosy in the snow. Close to all ameneties. Excellent service when bookings had to be changed due to problems accessing in the snow.... Highly recommended..

Just like Grandma's house.

We stayed here for two nights and were comfortable, warm and had everything we needed. It was ideally located to the dock, an easy walk to join the Gordon River cruise, which was our main reason for staying in Strahan. We bumped into others who stayed in the Strahan Village while we were travelling, and we were pleased we chose to stay at the McIntosh cottage.

Cute cottage;good location

Beautiful Strahan has a number of cottages for visitors and this is one has all you need for a self-catering holiday - off-street parking, close to a supermarket and a short drive to the waterfront for hotels, cafes and cruises. Three rooms, kitchen and bathroom, nicely furnished with an old-time feel. Modern television, but no wi-fi. Well-equipped kitchen lacking only a pantry for food storage. Beds were clean and comfortable. Some issues needed attention from owner (light globe replacement etc). A Welcome note, but no goodies for you on arrival. All in all, great value.

cottage lovely difficulty in gaining access

We arrived at the cottage after much difficulty in finding it. It was late in the evening, very dark and no lights on anywhere--not even the sign. There is no one on site to ask or direct you. We went to another motel down the road to first inquire where the cottages were and when we couldn't find anyone there and our phone wouldn't work to call the number on the sign, we returned to the other motel to use their phone. We finally contacted someone who informed us of our cottage number and where the key could be found. This was late, very dark and an unfamiliar area. The cottage itself was beautiful, well taken care of but our problems in getting in were off-putting. We never did see anyone as we left first thing the next morning and returned in the afternoon to find a note on the door asking us to call with payment details, together with a note for the incoming party . After speaking with the person and mentioning about it being dark and unwelcoming, she suggested that it was my fault for not letting her know that we would be late. The accommodation is lovely, the business not so much.

Dear little cottage with everything

Dear little cottage with everything thought of except a hairdryer. Even the wood fire was set up for us. Perhaps someone had souvenired the dryer. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely cottage with good facilities.

Lovely cottage with good facilities. However an easy chair or two would have made a big difference to the comfort level and the lighting was dim for reading in both the bedroom and living room. Otherwise we were very happy with the cleanliness and service provided.
