  • The California Condor was a common sight along the Columbia River in Lewis and Clark's day. By the early 1980's, there were only twenty-two left on the face of the planet, all in California. Today, thanks to a massive effort to re-populate the species via in-captivity pairing, there are some two-hundred members. But their recovery is far from assured. The Oregon Zoo has undertaken its own recovery effort whose ultimate goal is the re-introduction of the species into the protected wilderness area around the Columbia River Gorge. In short, to bring them home. For now, they live out their days in a vast, outdoor aviary designed specifically to mimic their habitat in the wild. If you have never seen one up close before, I urge you to come take a look. They are larger than any flying bird you will ever see, unless you go to Peru. And though black and white practically from head to toe, their plumage shines and reflects the light like dark, polished metal. If that doesn't suit your fancy, I will tell you that, as with all big birds, if you wait around long enough, they will do something so awe-inspiring that it will take your breath away, and something so goofy that you will laugh out loud. Great stay

Convenient location, well decorated for Halloween and great stay overall. The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast offered a good variety. The pool area was clean, but had little seating/tables. We'd stay ahain if we are ever back in town.

There are only 2 options for motels in St Helens Oregon. Oak Meadow Inn is THE best option! It is clean and well equipped; the breakfast has lots of great options. You will rest well at Oak Meadow Inn.

Older hotel. Pet friendly and the carpet looked that way. Elevators did not work but it's only a two story so no big deal. Not sure what the rest of the hotels look like in this area but would look at one of the others first, next time

Convenient location for Halloweentown. Well decorated for the occasion. Staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast worked for us, but noticed limited options for those with food allergies like dairy or gluten. Our room didn’t get cleaned which was annoying- someone knocked at 9:30 when we were still in the room and never came back even though we left at 10.

Amber worked at the front desk and when there was socks left from a previous person in the bed she swiftly came up to change the bedding, apologized a lot and created an account for me with points. She made it known to the cleaning crew. She helped us with the TV remote and settings. She was always friendly and helpful as we came in and out of hotel. The breakfast was great and the hotel was festive and decorated for our Halloweentown visit.

Friendly staff and quiet hotel. Good breakfast included in your daily rate. Kitchen dining room was spotless clean with good coffee and variety of choices. Major disappointment was the internet service. I was unable to check out our home security system for the entire stay. We would stay again. Expedia booking was seemless and easy.
