The hotel is perfect start/end point for Pelion steam-train / hiking. End-road so no traffic....

Unforgettable small mountainside hotel

The building is beautiful and for those arriving on the gorgeous old train, it overlooks the terminal station. The restaurant is great, and the outdoor grill smells wonderful. The family that runs it spoke fluent English and were warmly welcoming but left us alone when they realized we aren't chatty. The breakfast (9 euros) was delicious, with homemade apple cake. A beautiful (and not at all wheelchair accessible) stone path leads up the the main square of the village, which has a nice playground, several cafes & restaurants, a small museum, and a historic church.The only downside to the hotel was the shower, which didn't have a hook on the wall to hold the showerhead-- easy fix! There's a great upstairs living room with books and boardgames that parents can retreat to, leaving their sleeping kids in the room where they can hear them (or see them if they leave the window open). This is a magical place.
