"overnight stop to break longer journey. Old motorway hotel that has been in several hands over the years. The current owners appear to be doing a great job with regards providing a great value for money property just off the A1. The evening menu looked ok but I arrived a little late so just had a drink in the bar. As of 5/4/25 a pint of Madri cost £5.50 & Aspal Cider £5. Cheaper than most pubs I use. "Good price for the convenience of being within walking distance of the rail station and the town centre. No air con in our room though there was a fan. Our stay coincided with the hottest day of the year, up to that point. On hotter days, the room may become stifling. We reported to reception that the extractor fan in our room didn't work."
