"The main building is absolutely beautiful, with gorgeous traditional architecture that makes you feel like you’ve travelled back in time.
However, be careful when booking Chi Lin Pavilion, as it is a separate annex behind the main building and requires a shuttle bus to reach. I booked a Superior Room (Chi Lin Pavilion) through Hotels.com but was given a ground-floor room facing the road with no view, unlike the photos shown online. I had to pay extra to move to the main building to enjoy the view I expected. The same photos seem to be used for both buildings, so check your room category carefully before booking.
On the positive side, dinner at the Golden Dragon was wonderful, with beautiful night views and professional service. The breakfast buffet offered a great selection of local, Western, and Japanese dishes. The concierge staff were very helpful despite the busy lobby, and the hotel shuttle bus was convenient for visiting the night market and MRT station.
Overall, a beautiful hotel with excellent dining and service, but make sure you understand the room and building differences before booking."
