Borne Hall is up on a quiet hill a 10 minute walk from old town Shanklin and the Chine. It is a lovely spot with a view over the ocean and white cliffs. The one thing to be aware of is that all rooms are upstairs and there is no lift. Also, if you do not have a car, the walk from town is all up hill. So this location is not ideal for mobility impaired people.

A bit of a hill to walk into Shanklin but it can be done in 10 - 15 minutes. Parking was tight but proved not to be a porblem.

The staff are fantastic, helpful and friendly and they have holiday makers that return time and again so that speaks volumes to me. We were on the top floor so quite a few stairs and when checked as my description advised ceiling fan I was told they didn't have that anymore. Room was rather warm for me, please note a fan provided and another could be given If required, if I were to go back I would ask for a lower floor as I think this would help. To sum up if you want a picturesque setting with a beautiful view and really lovely people prepared to help with anything then give this hotel a try.

The bathroom could do with modernising to clamber into a bath for a shower with an old style bath shower mixer which took some fiddling about with to obtain a balanced temperature

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Property was probably lovely once but it is showing signs of age, paper peeling in room. Furniture mix of old and flatpack. Faulty kettle. Breakfast options limited and cooked breakfast was not hot from the buffet. All the negatives sound bad but the staff were great and this is not a criticism of them. Some investment is needed to bring this back to be a great hotel.
