This is an amazing hotel located in the very convenient part of the city. The service is exemplary and better than Four Seasons, Fairmont, and the like. We were a bit nervous after our local friends in Shanghai told us they had never heard of this hotel and urged us to consider changing our reservation to a better known brand. I'm lucky that we decided to just keep our reservation at the Wanda Reign. In fact, it's one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at (i travel internationally moderately often- once or twice per month). The Hotel itself is very luxurious but the decor is a bit odd. Apart from one art piece at the Japanese restaurant, all the art decoration is by famous Chinese artists. They are going for an Art Deco theme, reminiscent of the 1930's. Some of the flooring (e.g., roof top lounge) is actually a form of jade which is translucent (and it's lit from underneath). Shanghai has had a luxury hotel building frenzy over the past couple of years, so watch for promotional rates at luxury hotels such as the WR. In fact, after we booked and pre-paid this hotel, they had a promotion on, so we cancelled our original reservation and rebooked at the better rate. By the way, have at least one drink at the roof top bar. The city view of the night lights is pretty amazing, although the cocktails are moderately pricey. Hong Kong is small compared to Shanghai! The people in Shanghai were generally very friendly and helpful, but the staff at the WR were amazing!
