Independent Serra da Estrela Nature Park hotels

"Don’t be put off by the rather careworn outside appearance ,inside the hotel is very smart. Staff were friendly and helpful, room large and well equipped, with a balcony. Easy to find and plenty of parking, though hotel is 6 km from town. Very good buffet breakfast included. Only downside was the restaurant. The food was very hit and miss, and we were overcharged for some drinks. There isn’t anywhere else locally to eat. It’s a good base for exploring the area, and we would stay again."

"I enjoyed the most how true the place is to its history. You will, for example, not get bathrooms like this elsewhere today. And it works perfectly. So: welcome to another time and another place!"

"No where to eat, when I ordered in I was made to go to my room to eat by the male night staff member very rudely. The room was ok but very loud when surrounding guests used the facilities in the bathroom. Basic and clean but wouldn’t stay again. "

"First impressions are everything and the lovely staff gave us a very warm welcome complete with a glass of port, as well as a tour of the property upon arrival. The spa was very clean and zen, and our panarama suite had a lovely Mountain View. We dined in Fatiga, the restaurant on property and it was fantastic!! The food, service and ambiance were perfection!"

"Didn’t start well when receptionist insisted I had prepaid and need to pay again. Still took several minutes after giving them a printed copy of my reservation. When they realised it was their error they were very apologetic but it was still awkward particularly with a big queue building up behind me. Pool facilities great. Bar lovely and bar staff take huge pride, rightly, in their cocktails but service was so slow. An hour to get a beer ordered when sat down for food. Often 20 mins directly at the bar. Tip…order 2 drinks each."
