"The breakfast was good. They come in a tray of small dishes (similar to kaiseiki) but served all at one go. There are pianist , flutist or organist playing music during breakfast, tea time and evening. Refreshments are provided at the lobby. It is 6 min walk from the JR station . I love the aroma of the lavender once you enter the building and also in the lift. Staff can speak English too. The onsen has music playing in the background. Had a wonderful stay there."
"Loc is good. Staffs are super friendly and helpful. Bf was ok. Sashimi is good but other varieties are limited. Also the coffee machine broke down. No coffee for that day"
"Good location with good foods and services. The staffs are nice and help us to communicate with the taxi company for the reservation.
It's convenient to go to the main shopping area and restaurant from the hotel. It would be the top choice to stay in Sendai."
"Good value and location. Nice
Minor issues:
Amenity packs didn't contain coffee and creamer, but they were available from the front desk.
Laundry dryers very slow, we dried items in the room.
No under bed storage was a big issue, as I expect it from APA."
"We've stayed at the Monterey hotel chain in various locations & a few times at this specific hotel.
In the past, it's 5-star rated but this time, it could hardly 3 stars:
- The room was dated & overdue for a renovation
- Maintenance: the main door lock didn't work, we had to rely on the secondary latch to secure the door.
- Staff helpfulness (or the lack of): on Tue 19/May around 07am, we asked a front desk lady to help us send our luggage via Yamato to the airport & were advised that it must be done at the train station. We did just that & learned that it could have been done from the hotel.
- We stayed 4 nights & enjoyed breakfast the first 3 mornings on the 3rd floor. However, on the 4th morning Wed 20/May, the breakfast on the 5th floor was reeking with cigarette smell - the smoke was so strong impacting the quality of an otherwise very nice breakfast experience
So far, whenever in Sendai, we'd try to book this hotel, but this experience has changed our position"
