Wonderful location for a weekend break. The rooms were spotless and staff were really welcoming.
Room was very nice, modern and Very clean, staff professional, loved the idea of honest bar, breakfast was delicious thank you very much hot tub was a bonus just a shame we didn’t get longer
Breakfast was amazing- hot tub was lovely and would be amazing views (went in November so dark) Faith was so lovely and professional- room was amazing and views were amazing! Loved the honesty bar and the little town nearby
The whole experience was brilliant, from the welcome we got and great local tips, to the accommodation and breakfast. It was such a peaceful place to stay and we would highly recommend it. In particular, the staff were friendly and super helpful.
A fantastic location for exploring Wasdale. Accommodation surpassed expectations and cannot wait to return and spend more time enjoying the facilities.
We stayed in the large suite it was very clean very comfortable! bathroom was heaven bath tub and shower
Had a communal hot tub fits upto 6
Llamas an sheep at property
Owner was very helpful and informative
Breakfast was delicious had something for everyone
Perfect, we couldn’t fault the lovely owner and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, nor could we fault the beautiful rooms and breakfast choice with lovely little extras and excellent standards of cleanliness throughout. We’ll definitely be returning.
A perfect stay! Amazing comfy, cosy and massive bed which gave a perfect night sleep ahead of us climbing Scafell Pike which was really easy to get to. Super clean, loved the modern touches but also the traditional parts which remained from the barn. Breakfast was amazing and loved that it catered to vegetarian and non-dairy options without having to ask for this. We loved watching the alpacas from our bedroom. The freshly made cakes each day were such a treat and tasted beautiful. Only 10 mins drive from the beach, and some lovely restaurants like The Wild Olive. Can’t think of any faults!
Our experience was amazing. The room was so cosy, clean and warm. A beautiful bath with gorgeous toiletries supplied. The owner and son were so friendly and helpful. They have a dry room which was great for our hiking gear. The breakfast was the best breakfast I've ever had at any hotel, b&b or guest houses. Will definitely be back again.
Amazing stay at 1692 Wasdale, will definitely be staying there again if ever in the west lakes for hikes. Would recommend to anyone.
The rooms are stunning, amazing views from the hot tub (make sure you call to book a slot). We even got to feed the alpacas after speaking to Faith about them. She chopped us up some carrots to take out to them.
The best B&B in the Lakes! We stayed for two nights in Dec 2024 and could not fault this place & will definitely be returning. It is finished to a high standard throughout, very comfortable and the staff are brilliant. It’s a great base for exploring the Lakes, either hiking, cycling, running etc and there is a boot room to dry wet clothes etc.
The breakfast is delicious with a great selection including a hot fresh cooked to order option. There is an honesty bar which is well stocked and delicious cake is also available mid afternoon.
It is very easy to access great local restaurants/ pubs in Gosforth e.g The Olive Tree.
The staff we met were all incredibly friendly, helpful & polite. Thank you for a wonderful trip!
After reading all the reviews about 1692 we were not let down. Faith and her staff could not have done any more. Room was immaculate as was the the whole building and tastefully decorated.would highly recommend Wasdale and will definitely go back thank you Faith
A wonderful stay at a truly beautiful property. The care and craftsmanship that has been given to the restoration of this farm steading is evident throughout the building. The room we had (Fells) was one of the nicest spaces I've stayed in. Huge room with gorgeous bathroom on a mezzanine above. Hot tub after a long day on the fells was also a lovely addition! Breakfast was superb and staff were attentive without being intrusive - particular mention to Juliet who couldn't do enough. Will be back!
I loved my one night stay - truly relaxing - in one of the rooms with bath/shower & loo on a mezzanine above the bed. ~20 minutes awayfrom Scafell and 35 minutes away from the Hardknott Pass, it's location is in dramatic countryside. The bedroom is modern, clean and of a good size. The bed was very comfortable with great linen and pillows. Faith and the team were very welcoming even when I turned up too early. There are a couple of wooden benches in front of the buildings and a hot tub behind. If a couple of benches could be placed beyond the hot tub, you would be able to crash out and have stunning views. Breakfast, cooked to order, is really good quality as is the wide range of other foods available for breaky. All excellent really, so thank you for preparing me to ride over the Hardknott Pass.
Its all about attention to detail, and this place has got it and then some! Can not rate this accomodation highly enough the staff where so friendly and helpful, and nothing was a problem for them. The little things matter and the place has plenty of quality. The hot tub was a nice extra as was the piano in the lounge area. Very clean and tidy. We will be back, lovely experience and the breakfast was excellent in both quality and quantity. It was a pleasure to stay here.
Do you have a really wealthy friend with a sumptuous guest suite? Staying here is like visiting that friend. Every detail is meticulously curated, including robes, towels and flip flops that are delivered if you book the hot tub, homemade shortbread, color coordinated chocolates on your pillow, chef made breakfast, a focus on locally made amenities (bedding, toiletries, beers, jams, and other breakfast items), homemade cake every afternoon, combination lock door handles, multiple lighting options from ambient to task, soaking tub, rainfall shower and handheld wand. The inn itself is the quintessentially perfect combination of good planning, old bones and contemporary style. It is a refurbished barn from 1692 that has retained its stone walls, but been fitted with underfloor heating and kitted with high end plush furnishings and decorated with an eye for distinction.
Set on a farm, it's a 5 min drive into Gosforth, 15 minutes to the Wast Water (or less if you don't hit traffic on the single track road),30 minutes to the ocean for beaches and seaside towns, and in the midst of all the wild beauty, ancient history and outdoor adventure available in the western Lake District. You won't find over crowded tourist towns here. You'll need a car, to get round, but you'll be staying in the lap of luxury whilst immersed in the wilder side of the District.
Every suite is distinct, lovely and comfortable, but we are fond of Cairns. Video coming on Well Travelled Life YouTube channel.
Absolutely fantastic, what a wonderful place to stay. Large bed, luxurious bedding, lovely bathroom with walk in shower. The whole place is to an extremely high standard of architectural thought and build, amazing.
Amazing stay in a beautiful hotel. Would highly recommend. The attention to detail was outstanding. The bed was very comfy and the free cake was delicious.
