「Amazing place to stay. Food was excellent also.」

「The hotel is a few minutes walk from Mallaig train station, and the ferry terminal. There are two supermarkets and a few restaurants around the village so that one can easily get refreshments. I was amazed that the hotel is in a delicate traditional wooden decor, and has a relaxing garden terrace. I also enjoyed the window view a lot! The room was clean and it’s reception was excellent. I strongly recommend anyone who plan to visit any Hebrides islands, give the hotel a chance,.」

「Main issue with the property is it’s location, the state of the access road which is narrow and full of pot holes and some of the rooms. They gave us a room in the attic which was more like a closet turned into a room. The bed was small and not comfortable. We were jet lagged and woke up late so couldn’t try the breakfast, but we did try the bar which was good but overpriced.」

「With no prior warning, the hotel manager totally amended our arrangements for our stay at the hotel. The hotel phone was not answered and voicemail messages were ignored. As a result, after travelling to Oban to catch the ferry, we had no alternative other than to cancel our trip at the last minute.」

「Great hotel, great staff, great food, and really great golf. Stayed at The Machrie for my 60th Birthday, mainly to play the golf course, but also as a base to explore Islay. We’ve stayed in many hotels - this was one of the best experiences we’ve had. My wife suffers from Coeliac Disease so has to have a strict gluten free diet.
