My sister and I stayed at Kona Kai for six nights in early March and the accommodations were perfect. You can tell the owner Denise put a lot of thought and love into this gem. I loved stepping out of the Great Lakes cold into this property’s tropical oasis feeling among the palm trees, pool, and thatched roof outdoor dining areas. It has a great mix of shade and sun. In the one queen bed “efficiency” the kitchenette had all the essentials we needed for two people to make breakfast, and easy snacks, since we planned to try one restaurant per day. It had the full refrigerator/freezer, two burner stovetop, silverware, non-breakable plates and bowls. Ceramic coffee mugs, small paring knives, cooking utensils, can opener, cutting board, a small saucepot, small fry pan, microwave, and coffee maker. A little table and chairs in the kitchen and another outside the door. The shower had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers. Nice soft towels. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The owner Denise and staff are kind and gave helpful tips on fun places to eat. It is close to shopping and restaurants. We rented bikes from Billy’s across the street for the week and biked to nearby beaches to save on parking. There are bike racks at Kona Kai and most everywhere else too. We also rode over to get ice cream nearby at The Shack and to the grocery store at Jerry’s. I plan to return to Kona Kai in the future.

The room & facilities were very clean & meticulously maintained. We enjoyed the pool and were the only ones there most days. Very safe. We didn’t even lock up our bikes!

We loved staying at the recently reopened Kona Kai. We were there with our two boys, ages 6 and 8. They loved the pool, seeing the little lizards and walking on the paths to the rooms. Staff was extremely friendly and helped with suggestions for shelling, dinners, etc. We loved being able to have a fridge/freezer/microwave. Would definitely come and stay again!

Theming was outstanding, property and rooms were immaculate and functional. Convenient location. Kind staff and easy check in/out process. Only thing that could've made it better was if the pool was heated. It's an amazing stay.

Kona Kai is very nice. Everything is clean and updated. The rooms were perfect for our stay and the manager and other staff were extremely helpful. The location on the island is also very good. We didn't swim but the pool was nice and many did swim. We met some new people which was a great experience. There are hair dryer, silverware, pots and pans. and various items to use the kitchen and bathroom, plenty of supplies. We stayed in an efficiency. There were two of us and the room was comfortable for our five night stay. The beaches were beautiful and plenty of shells to find. We also fished and enjoyed catching sheepshead off of Blind Pass bridge. Great stay!

Very much enjoyed our week long stay at Kona Kai. Our room felt more like a private cottage in a small community. Staff were helpful and made sure we had all we needed. The location is great, near restaurants and you can rent a bike right across the street at Billy’s Bikes. Will definitely go back.

Not enough nice things to see about this perfect little island stay! From the nature, to the quiet individual bungalows, to the cleanliness, to the location… everything was perfect for a solo traveler! I felt very safe and comfortable and had everything that I needed. Very clean and quiet. The rooms were very nice. My only negative comment is that in the welcome letter you are asked to take out trash and dispose of it in a dumpster to avoid a trash fee which is something I’ve never encountered in a hotel before.
