I recently stayed at El Conquistador Resort and, overall, my experience was just okay far from what I expected given the high prices and added taxes.
The room was a disappointment. The bathroom felt outdated, like something straight out of the 1980s. The bathtub was chipped, the sink had almost no water pressure, and the soap dispenser was broken. The bed was uncomfortable, and the air conditioner had very low power the room got hot at night, almost as if the A/C turned off. Noise was another big issue the room had no soundproofing, so we could hear every person walking by and every footstep from the kids running in the room above us. It made it really hard to relax or sleep.
Dining was another letdown. The food options were very limited. The few restaurants on-site were always packed and required reservations if you didn’t book ahead, you’d be stuck eating between 9–10 p.m. My husband even got food poisoning after eating a white egg sandwich, which was concerning.
Housekeeping didn’t meet expectations either. Trash was left behind and the coffee machine was still dirty after cleaning. For a resort of this price range, that’s just not acceptable.
