Lovely setting - unique historical stay. Grounds were great with peacocks. Rooms were pleasant and bathrooms spacious. Hot water variable but it is an old building. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. However, the breakfast was disappointing - coffee was poor and was self-serve from a flask on the side (no other option offered eg latte, cappuccino etc), no defcaf tea available, limited choice of pastries, jams and fresh fruit. Had to ask for glasses, cutlery and plates.

It's was an experience we wanted, to stay in a castle. The Ruthin Castle has a ton of history. It's a bit run down but I guess that could be the charm. The bathroom was beautiful, the rooms (bedroom and living room) were large. Overall, the place seemed quiet and dark. There is not a lot to do in Ruthin. The staff was nice and the room was clean.

Staff lovely, friendly and helpful. Food very nice as was the service. DSpa good value for money and restful, the outside hot tubs in the snow great fun. Room clean and tidy, decor a little tired but then again it is an 800+ year old building! did not at all detract from our stay
