Hotel was closed but they provided use of annex ‘wedding suite’. No hot water in taps (shower had inbuilt heater), dusty and cobwebs. Someone else’s jackets still in wardrobe (!?). Not what I was expecting.
Having previously visited I was looking forward to a good stay.
All I wanted was for an enjoyable meal in the restaurant, a pint or two and a good night's sleep. I didn't want to go out, I wanted everything inhouse.
No staff & no other guests present - the building was literally empty apart from myself! I saw one member of staff at breakfast time and that was it!
Hotels.com specified a restaurant and bar.
Sheene Mill website specified a restaurant and bar.
No prior information was given by either (as is usually the case by email/txt).
The hotel is beautiful, but in these difficult COVID times - deserted. It was a strange experience will no staff most present most of the time. Breakfast was arranged as a take away and was good. There was no meal/bar on Mon/Tue - but when in full operation on Wed the hotel was in full swing and very good. My room was not cleaned at all - presume due to COVID. My TV did not work - but was looked at on the second day and I was offered a room change. Overall an odd experience in strange times. Would definitely stay again if/when this is all over.
Room was incredible and extremely spacious. Comfortable bed and great features (tv above the bed!). The hotel is beautiful, parking is easy and staff are friendly.
Shower needed a deep clean though, black mold isn't a great feature.
Scuffs/scratches made the room look a little tired.
Overall a great place though.
Lovely hotel with particularly charming, helpful and efficient staff. They all looked after us very well. Dinner was very good indeed, and breakfast excellent. We had minor complaints about our room though, which was very small but well equipped. The sharp wooden corner of the bed frame stuck out and was a bruising hazard! The tiny shower room was perfectly adequate but the shower needed a basket on the wall to hold shampoo, soap, sponges etc which had to be kept on the floor. Also, the shower floor was a bit slippery and needed a non slip mat.

Wonderful welcome. Views over river beautiful. Food exceptional. Bedrooms based but clean.
Lovely hotel with some brilliant, jovial evening staff, and nice and close to the IWM at Duxford. A great couple of days in all, seeing some old smokejumper buddies, and gals, along with Miss Montana (C-47), prior to parachuting into Normandy for D-Day+75 years. Sheene Mill made the stay thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks! From the "Limey Smokejumper", MIssoula, Montana.
Great hotel if you are going to the wedding being held there on the day but if not then really poor as you are unable to use the hotel communal areas so our planned lunch and drinks when we arrived in the hotel couldn’t happen unless we wanted formal dining which we didn’t.
Pretty setting right by the river. Room was comfortable enough with plenty of space and a view of the river but in need of some updating. Staff all very helpful. Very good breakfast overlooking river.
We stayed for just one night before moving into a house in Cambridge -- and although we had a 3-year-old and a shepherd dog with us, it was quite a pleasant stay. All of the staff were kind and very helpful, there wasn't even an extra charge for the dog (and good paths nearby for walks), and an excellent breakfast (at no extra charge), sitting near the mill stream and tossing crumbs to ducklings.
