Good location for wedding we attended two doors down.
Stairwell/corridor absolutely dire. Luckily room had recently been refurbished so was slightly better, however, needed a good clean and not even sure if sheets has been laundered prior to our stay as there were small hairs on them!!!
Curtains only covered half of the window so woke up with sun in our eyes at 5am...

Man sollte vorher de.
Arrived to find green water in the toilet .....cleaning solution you may reasonably expect, however , brown sludge at the bottom of the toilet indicated another culprit, confirmed by flushing of the toilet - it was in fact a fungating turd .....fabulous !

Best location for Sweeps
Best location as a base for wandering around Rochester. Not the highest quality but good value for money
Convenient location for Rochester high street. Rooms are directly over the pub so noise to be expected. Lovely friendly staff and unique Dickens themed decor.

Very Much a mixed bag!
This hotel was part good and part poor. The staff were very friendly but the accommodation was variable. Room 11 was fine, well equipped but without any tea cups or mugs? Room 9 was very basic and need urgent refurbishment. The staircase was very dark and uninviting. All in all it is about ensuring you get a refurbished room

Variable quality
A bit of a mixed bag! The staircase up to the rooms was Dickensian and dark and not particularly welcoming. We had 2 rooms room 11 was good but room 9 was very shabby and in need of renovation. Staff were very pleasant and there were plenty of cosmetics and towels as well as tea coffee and a kettle but no mugs??? All in all good in room 11 poor in room 9!
My room was pretty basic, with the wash basin and shower actually in the room.
The TV remote didn’t work and the WiFi was patchy. Although the radiator was on full, the room was pretty cool - not a problem for me as I like a cool bedroom, but not very comfortable to sit around in. I think the draft coming through the single glazed window was the issue here.
Otherwise, the room was clean and comfortable.
When I arrived, there was only one person working in the pub and she couldn’t leave the bar so I had to find my own way to the room - not a problem. When I left in the morning the pub was locked up so I had to take it back up to my room and leave a note about the remote not working.

Friendly, helpful staff. Rather cramped room with a shower with a see through glass door in the bedroom, a bit inhibiting for shy people. Very shabby but elegant staircase with walls covered in Dickens murals, would stay there again. Lovely views of Rochester sky line.
Really good pub with nice food , bar staff were very helpful especially the girl who greeted us, the housekeeper was also helpful when stocking up with more coffee and requiring a portable heater as the radiator in the room wasn't working correctly. Room furniture and decoration was nice, room was well equipped with comfy bed and chair. Reasonably clean. Bathroom good although bath a little dated and old. Hot water in bath and shower but not very hot from basin. Good pub with good atmosphere nice food and beer. Enjoyed hearing about the residents ghosts ! Very old hotel with many period features including wobbly floors and steps ! Communal stair case had a lovely mural painted all around with Charles Dickens characters. My only complaint was that the stairway and carpet were dirty with manky carpets and a very greasy smelly. The kitchen was on the second floor so I guess this was why. I have stayed in pubs before and understand this is a problem when you are on the thorough fair from the kitchen. I think though they would be wise to invest in a deep clean of that whole area. Other than that I loved the place and its people.
We decided to stay in the Kings Head because of its central location in Rochester high street, that bit of the trip worked well. General condition of the hotel and room was poor it was especially noisy and we did not sleep well because of that. All the floors were very creaky especially on the stairs where the carpet was terrible. We would definitely not go back to the is hotel.
Fantastic location staff are very friendly and helpful unfortunately the fire alarm kept going off through the night from 2 for over an hour very frustrating nobody's fault I know things happen
Nice and very pleasant staff. Nice pub downstairs. Great location in center of Rochester.
Room was quite basic and some noise transfer from adjoining rooms.
Would stay there again.
