I've been here many times now. It's so convenient and the staff are very helpful. I even got a little note in my room this time welcoming me back and thanking me for staying there.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
This is a hotel to sleep. Close to the metro station and safe. The room is old but better than other hotels in Rio.
Good location and breakfast. The hotel was booked out and expensive because of carnival which was an inconvenience for me but the hotel coped with it well. Still good service despite all the people.
We had an excellent stay at the ibis Botafogo. Staff are really friendly, the area is trendy and full of places to eat and culture nearby. The room was basic but has everything you need. Highly recommended and great value for money
This is a nice and affordable property located in a safe area. You'll find great food nearby, and it's close to shopping centers and numerous restaurants. It's just a fifteen-minute taxi ride to Ipanema, so you definitely get your money's worth. While it may not be a five-star hotel, it is quite decent and situated in a quiet neighborhood.
Very clean, brilliant vibe in the building. Good breakfast and the staff are very welcoming, helpful. Room was OK, neat and tidy. Clean bathroom. Lgbt friendly.
Not a quiet place, near a very busy street but convenient near everything you might need. Staff was friendly and helpful
Can’t walk around with cell phones or anything valuable outside of the hotel. Be aware!
I stayed in a very clean double room and had a very good experience. The hotel doesn’t provide extras like slippers, which I expected and brought my own, but I was surprised that only bath towels were provided with no hand towels. There is no room safe, and the only bin is in the bathroom, it would have been helpful to have one in the room as well.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and some spoke English, which made things much easier. The location is convenient, busy but safe and it was easy to get an Uber to pick you up or drop you off right outside the hotel. The room had a fridge, which was empty, making it handy to stock up from the nearby supermarket. The price of the room was also very reasonable for Rio, making this a practical and comfortable base for exploring the city. As a solo female traveller I felt very safe staying there.
POSITIVES
Staff are kind and attentive, safe location, comfortable room.
NEGATIVES
Weird parking situation where you leave your keys with the attendant who then leaves them on top of your car, essentially so anyone can wander into the garage and drive off with your car or go into your car as they do not check who is driving what
Angelina at the reception needs a special mention, offering assistance beyond call of duty. Incredible price at $140 ( inclusive of breakfast) when other hotels in the vicinity shotup New Year prices to $400 plus. Ibis is on my favourite list now. They even made an at no extra charge. Definitely worth spending on taxi (US$12) to get there and back to Copacabana which also has Ibis worth checking out. A swimming pool would have given the Ibis 4* rating

Liked: Staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
First room handed to us was on the 7th floor; mold smell was away too strong we had to ask to change rooms. Staff was nice and found us another room on the 5th floor… Second room was “all right”… I mean, we were only there for a night, so I guess it’s ok. But to be honest, over $150/night we expected to have at least a bottle of water in the room… painting around the room is spotty, bad lighting, furniture was jacked up, mattress was as thin as it can be, no face or hand towels…
Location is good and you have easy access to anything you might need walk distance… but the hotel itself sucks. Their price rely solo on their location. We would not recommend or go back to it.
First off, the check in process here is a nightmare. Many people waiting in line and very slow. I waited more than 30 minutes to check into my room. The checkout process was also bad and the same situation.
The room is very small, and lacking in features. No hand towels, no trash can in main room, air conditioning is weak too.
The rooms are clean and in good condition but that’s all I can say that’s good. The breakfast buffet was not good and they charge extra for it(better off eating out)
