Amazing B&B, great views and a terrace, great breakfast, and extremely helpful hosts who gave us tips on things to do and places to eat. Would greatly recommend and would stay there again.
This is a large country house that you access via a small farmroad up the hill from Rimont. The owners have been renovating it for the last three years and are doing a great job. The rooms are very large with balconies over the beautiful lush countryside. All you can hear are the birds and the occasional cow bell – very peaceful!. There is no air conditioning in the rooms but fans were available for us during a heatwave and the mornings were lovely and cool. Barry and Jocelyn are friendly and enthusiastic hosts and made our stay very enjoyable. Barry is passionate and knowledgeable about the local produce and had cheeses and wines that were amazing. Their evening meals were delicious and the wines and craft beers to accompany it were interesting and inexpensive. They have lots of local knowledge and helped us plan a full day excursion. Nothing was too much trouble.
Fantastic situation for access to the Pyrenees. Our hosts were exceptional with much thought to room presentation and throughout the facility.
Breakfast was great and evening meals were a delight with much use of local produce and detailed information on the providence of the food. Cooked and served with skill.
Magnifique! 6 stars! Hosts Barry & Jocelyn make you feel you are guests in their own home, and while they encourage you to relax and do your own thing they are always happy to help you with anything – maps, places to visit, where to eat (Barry will make reservations for you). Among the best places to eat is Domaine de Terrac! Jocelyn produces wonderful four-course evening meals at an exceptionally reasonable price, and Barry keeps a good stock of local drinks, including artisan beers. Every morning he goes out to get the most wonderful pastries for breakfast from a local patisserie. You can choose from about a dozen, and there is also a great choice of loose-leaf teas, as well as (of course!) fresh coffee.
The property is in a quiet hamlet on the side of a valley, with lovely views, and the rooms are very well-appointed. The little touches are too many to mention, but it was great to find tea and (proper) coffee-making facilities in our room (something you cannot assume in continental Europe). There is a large lounge with a plentiful stock of books (mostly English) and DVDs (a player in our room), and you can chill out in the garden and admire the surroundings.
Our holiday was a mix of walking and sight-seeing, and the major attractions of the area, including the amazing cave systems, pretty villages and mountain lakes are all within about an hour or less by car.
We had an exceptional holiday, and were very sorry to have to say goodbye to such amazing hosts!
