Even thought we booked the room well ahead and paid in full, I was advised upon check-in that a $50 "security deposit" was required, which was totally unexpected. I was assured that it would be returned as soon as I checked out. When I checked out, I was told that the deposit would be returned to my card "in a few days". Not happy about that whole thing. If I had $ to spare, I wouldn't be staying at the Rodeway Inn to begin with.
As to the room itself, it was reasonably clean, but had that air of "lipstick on a pig" - if you looked close, there were some pretty questionable elements, like a microwave with the interior shielding broken off and rust underneath (ewwww). The bed was clean and fairly comfortable, and all-in-all for a quick stay (we were only there one night), it was doable, but if I had to stay longer, I would pick another hotel. On the upside - even though we didn't go swimming, the pool looked really clean and sparkly, and the area around it seemed to be nice.
One last thing - if you book a stay here, be warned - finding the entrance into the hotel is challenging, as it is not well marked. The Rodeway Inn shares the lot with the Econolodge, which is closest to the road. Look for the Econolodge sign on the front of the building, and turn in there.
