Favorite place we’ve stayed…ever? I can’t recommend the Villa Walton enough. It’s so beautiful and well looked after, the gardens are stunning. We stayed in the cottage and had everything we wanted, the secluded outdoor tub was lovely! The food was amazing. I think I ate more breakfast here than I have in my entire life. My wife and I have dietary restrictions and Sue Neil were extremely accommodating and thoughtful. Everything was delicious and I wish we stayed longer! We’ll definitely be back for another slice of heaven!

Apart from the fact the house and gardens are stunning, we were so well looked after, what was supposed to be a local base for a 3 day work trip left us feeling like we had been on holiday for a week. The house and rooms restful, food heavenly, and the host treated us like old friends. We we definitely return!

Wunderschöne Unterkunft mit ganz tollen und netten Gastgebern. Man fühlt sich wie in einem englischen Landhaus und kommt in der Stadt der Hobbits absolut zur Ruhe. Die Ausstattung ist perfekt. Wir hatten das Gästehaus gebucht, welches wundervoll und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet war. Ein Highlight ist die Badewanne im Aussenbereich aus der man Nachts die Sterne beobachten kann. Das Abendessen in dem kleinen Restaurant des Hauses ist ganz hervorragend. Das Frühstück wurde uns im Gästehaus bereit gestellt und war wirklich lecker. Abgerundet wurde es durch Maracujas aus dem eigenen Garten. Wir würden jederzeit wieder hinfahren.

Excellent luxury stay. Well-renovated historical building, beautiful gardens, fresh food home grown and locally sourced. Great small touches that shows attention to detail. Personal and professional service. Great place to stay e.g. when visiting Hobbiton since it is only 25 min away by car. Also nice just for a comfortable getaway to relax.

Villa Walton is a must stay if visiting Matamata. Beautiful rooms and decor, delicious homemade food, immaculate grounds and exceptional hosts - Glenn was knowledgeable about the area, giving great advice on things to see, and made sure that we enjoyed our stay at both Villa Walton and Matamata.

Charming bed and breakfast with Victorian styling, updated amenities and features like a heated towel rack in the bathroom, and stand-up-frameless shower. The property was quiet and made it easy to relax. The owners are fantastic hosts who provide excellent coffee, breakfast and drinks for a relaxing nightcap. My wife is still talking about the avocado toast with toasted cheese. Definitely recommend Villa Walton.

This is a very perfect mansion which is both classic and modern. I’m surprised that even the towels are put on a heating rack. We love the food a lot, both dinner and breakfast. Fresh ingredients and nicely cooked by the host! Host is very nice and introduced us to sheep feeding. Thanks for lending us a HDMI cable as well since our laptop’s monitor is not functioning well and we need to connect it to the TV.

My partner and I absolutely loved our stay here. The room was gorgeous and comfortable - beautiful bathroom and very clean. The whole place has been gorgeously decorated and there are so many small touches that just make it so inviting. Glen was a fantastic and welcoming host, not to mention an excellent chef! Our breakfast was delightful and the sticky date pudding was delightful. It was also great to interact with the sheep, chickens, and Willis the cat on the property. Would absolutely recommend staying here - truly a beautiful place!
