Just as you come onto the property, just outside the reception is a cobble stone path, where sets of chairs and tables are set up to watch the sunset and drink the wines produced at the nearby vineyard. That was my absolute favorite place to sit as we were celebrating my partner's birthday. Our friends from New York were vegetarians and found loads of options on the farm to table menu on offer for breakfast and dinner. It rained the last 3 days of our trip, cancelling our hot air balloon ride, but the concierge toggled quickly and offered us an array of options including an olive oil tasting. Our guide was a fount of knowledge. Thank you!

The most magical place. We loved our stay at Barrocal, the staff was amazing, nothing is too much trouble, every detail has been thought of. Do momento em que chegamos de carro ao hotel fomos muito bem recepcionados e nota-se de imediato o preparo da equipe para oferecer um serviço de extrema qualidade. Check-in desconstruído, com um drink de boas vindas e canapés servidos no bar o lado da recepção enquanto escaneiam seus documentos e fazem a parte burocrática. Oferta de atividades extras (pagas à parte em sua maioria ) variada. Quarto de extremo bom gosto, clean, confortável e espaçoso. Quartos do monte com excelente vista de Monsaraz. Almoço e jantar no restaurante do hotel com comida muito boa, e cardápios diferentes, o que achei ótimo para variar mesmo que indo ao um mesmo local. Sempre uma atenção impecável de todos durante as refeições. Café da manhã com opções de qualidade, e pratos quentes à la carte muito bons. Most peaceful and amazing place. Great service, though it becomes slightly less attentive during the weekend due to higher number of guests, it’s still way better than most places. Definitely going back, it’s gorgeous and the best place to reset.

Overall very good

It is important to say that we would like to return if we are able. The Hotel must be seen and rated completely separately from the restaurant, because they are at very different levels in terms of service. The Hotel and its surroundings are absolutely beautiful. there are many of the 5 star special touches and treats which one appreciates. Rooms are large, bathrooms are large, rooms are spotlessly clean, the beds are very comfortable, the service right on arrival by car is impeccable. Dinner was unfortunately poor in terms of service, also visibly experienced at other tables. The food itself was very good. Breakfast was very good overall, but the small inconsistencies need to be dealt with. I have already seen reviews which state that during breakfast, there was a lawn being mown directly in front of the outdoor restaurant. We also experienced this. The noise was not a major issue, but the petrol smell over breakfast is unwarranted. This can easily be cleared up by management instructing staff to wait for another hour or more before doing this type of work. We actually had the lawn mower and the strimmer going on at the same time. I found it fairly amusing given the 5 star rating. This noise and smell does not fit in with the relaxed atmosphere which one needs at these prices and in such an establishment. A few adjustments and the prices are worth the stay
