Wonderful escape

A comfortable jewel. Close to beautiful beach. Attentive, caring management who go out of their way to ensure guests needs are met. Clean rooms and pool. Restaurant serves delicious pizza. A great place to vacation. You may not want to go home. Exceeded all expectations.

Our stay at The Sunset Cove and Rainbow Room left much to be desired. We arrived just at the end of the check-in hours, which close at 5 PM, only to find that the restaurant was closed for dinner. This was disappointing, especially since they don’t offer breakfast before 8 AM or even a to-go box. There were no snacks or food options available on the property or nearby, and the closest grocery store or restaurant was a 10-15 minute car ride away. The rooms are very outdated, with many things falling apart, clearly in desperate need of renovation. Unfortunately, our room was also dirty, and we even found worms on the floor in the morning. Despite these issues, the AC worked fine, and there was coffee and tea provided in the room. The beach is a 15-minute walk from the property, which was another downside considering the limited amenities on-site. For what it offers, The Sunset Cove and Rainbow Room is very overpriced. There are far nicer hotels with more amenities and closer proximity to the beach available at the same or even lower price.

was very close to beautiful rainbow beach, host was SUPER helpful, went out of his way to buy me ciggaretts since i gave up trying to quit on vacation lol. Restaurant food was delicious, property was beautiful with nice flowers and a very cute friendly cat! Would come back.

Nice but missing the amenities

Room has been updated and is clean but the room amenities were lacking and poor quality. The towels are super thin and rough, the bath amenities are equivalent to a 1 star hotel (shampoo/conditioner combo bottle, horrible soap bar, no lotion, no tissues, no in room coffee machine, no comforter on the bed & the blanket is worn and pilly). Attention to detail is what makes a hotel memorable and a place to return. The property is isolated from any other restaurants or shops so you are confined to hotel amenities and services. Most Airbnbs & Vbro rentals provide higher quality amenities for a cheaper nightly rate.

Same cottage advertised under name Rainbow Inn with "semi-kitchen". We booked expecting to be able to prepare food but only had sink and mini-fridge (to be fair, this was all that was shown under name "Sunset Cove"). Hot water often sputtered. Not much of a deck and tree took half of that. No TV but we didn't mind. No bedside lamps (we like to read in bed) and could have used one more room chair. Front door latch was loose and door sometime swung open on its own. The Inn looks like a great place to have a meal or drink and we had a great pizza the first night. Overcooked the second night. As advertised, just a short walk to Rainbow Beach. Stefanie is a great hostess. Price was just under $800 CAN for 2 nights -- more than we paid for a fully-equipped 2-bedroom cottage in South Palmetto.

The property was peaceful and beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was my first time to the island and upon arrival I was greeted at the airport by Andrew who transported me from and to the airport safely. Stephanie and Joseph was nice. The only thing I was disappointed with was the limited food menu. Overall I had a great experience. The pizza was great.

I booked this location via expedia. Upon arrival, the site was completely abandoned and under construction. Not a soul to be seen, guest or employee. The pool was drained and full of muck. Boards laying about. A bathtub ripped out and left on the patio. General decay. I called the number on their sign. Someone answered saying check in is only at 3:30, and since I wasn't there then, the worker left. Nevertheless, they said they'd be there in 15 minutes. 45 minutes later no one was there, and between the general state of the property and the setting sun, I was beginning to feel very unsafe. I hitchhiked down the highway after the sunset and managed to get a ride into the closest town, which had an inn above the local bar. A local later told me that the Sunset Cove and Rainbow Room is closed for I did get a phone call in the night after I left that I did not answer, and emails later on asking me to come back to be upgraded to their "luxury suite," but with the property obviously abandoned and under construction, I was in no state to trust whoever was emailing me. If you value your safety or your money, stay well clear of this place.
