A nice hostal in Quito Mariscal. Area felt safe, there was a lot of restaurants, bars and nightclubs just a few blocks from the hostal. The room was clean, but a little cold. There was simple breakfast included.

staff very nice and helpful but loud radio while they work in the kitchen. Avoid the rooms that are in the patio by the kitchen, super loud in the morning. Very good price value ratio
I’ve always enjoyed staying at El Arupo. They have the best staff who is very accommodating. The location has always been great with walking ability to the town center. Unfortunately, Covid has been really hard on those businesses. I hope to see them revitalized, it was a hopping place. I’d still go to El Arupo.
Very nice hostel, good central location in Quito and friendly staff. Just a bit noisy the second night because of my neighbours

Awesome hostel in centrally located in Quito. Plenty of restaurants, stores, etc. in the immediate area. Ana, the manager, so helpful and sweet. I highly recommend.
I highly recommend Casa del Arupo. Excellent and safe location right next to Plaza Foch. Perfect for restaurants, bars or just a walk around. The property itself is well maintained, the rooms are clean and comfortable. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Anna was an absolute sweetheart, always smiling and helpful. She made us great eggs for breakfast.
The staff was very friendly, although they apparently didn't speak English. Also I was frequently awoken by either noises outside, from other guests (another guest said he had similar issues), or just the fact that my room literally had no blinds at all. Other than those issues, the place has good breakfast and a nice policy of allowing you to stay inside the Hotel after your time is up (also WIFI which is always nice).
Great place. 2 blocks to Plaza Foch. Countless restaurants. An excellent Ecuadorian restaurant across the street. Tour bus pick up at the corner. ATM’s
Great staff. Remarkably, as close in as this place is, the street is only 2 blocks long. No through traffic. Absolutely quiet. No barking dogs.
El lugar es agradable , cómodo, limpio. A pesar de estar ubicado cerca de las discotecas y bares el lugar es muy tranquilo. Yo fui con mi esposo y mi hijo.

It is a nice place to stay in Quito for a small budget. Staff are very nice and I was surprised that breakfast was included. My room was not the best but a nice place to stay.
On the 6th Feb, 2019 while I was out touring the city, a thief broke into my room (#9 on the 3rd floor) and ransacked all my luggage. They took my laptop, my iphone, ipod, half my clothes (smaller items) and about $300 cash. The hotel manager said it was "the man next door," but you will have a hard time convincing me it was not an inside job. When I asked to phone the police, I was told "We could, but it wouldn't do any good," so I went to the police station and filed my own report for my records. Beware of this hostal. Do not leave ANYTHING of value in the room (in spite of the false sense of safety given by the locked gate) and do NOT leave your key in the key box behind the front desk when you go out, visible for all to see!
I found this place while in Ecuador because the original hostal we stayed in was super hard for the drivers to find and away from most things. This one was appealing since the reviews said it was near Plaza Foch which is a popular spot with many restaurants and bars. This place is about a minute or two walking distance from it but also a main street for other restaurants or hotels if a tour requires you to meet at the hotel for pick up. The neighborhood felt safe for two female travelers. The hosts were super nice during check in and throughout the stay. Ask the hosts about return to the airport. We paid the same price as a taxi and the person returning us to the airport was prompt and friendly. Place was a decent size and showers are hot. Beds and floor make noise if you are trying to be silent at night but beds were pretty comfy. We stayed for three nights and it was a good experience. Cute and cozy place for a very reasonable price in a good area. Highly recommend.
