Our experience at Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana was very disappointing, especially since we were traveling to celebrate our anniversary. We paid for an ocean-view room, but upon arrival, we were assigned a room facing a construction zone. We requested a change immediately, but they were unwilling to resolve the issue. The next day, they kept us waiting all day with promises that they would move us—giving us a different time each time—until they finally did.
Unfortunately, the problems didn't end there. In the new room, the pillows had a very unpleasant odor. We called to have them replaced, but no one ever came. We also waited practically a whole day just to have a simple bottle of water delivered.
As for the food, it was one of the biggest disappointments. The restaurants were always packed, and getting a table was very difficult. We found the Greek restaurant to be very poor; the French restaurant also left much to be desired, and the sushi at the Japanese restaurant was of very low quality. For a hotel of this caliber and at the price we paid, we expected a much better dining experience.
The staff, in general, were friendly and tried to take good care of us, but the hotel gives the impression that it isn't quite ready to receive guests yet. Many areas are still under construction, with constant noise from hammers, machinery, and workers during the day, which disrupts rest and the overall experience. Furthermore, neither the casino nor the nightclub is open.
