「We were genuinely sad we only had one night to stay at Banana Azul! Check in was quick and efficient and friendly. The fresh coconut was a lovely treat. The Howler Suite was charming and the view magical. The food in the restaurant was delicious. I highly recommend Banana Azul if you want an authentic Costa Rica experience that’s right on the Playa Negra beach. I’ll definitely be returning. 」

「This lodge is every bit is beautiful as the pictures show. They had a young sloth on property that we saw the first day. We saw all sorts of birds and agoutis too. Staff were very helpful. Filtered water and coffee on endless supply in the dining area. The Wi-Fi on the property is good, but it does not extend to the cabins. 「The place is 200 m from Playa Chiquita entrance (cars can only go about 100 m, then it's end road and you have to walk anyway). They have a nice restaurant inside the property with really good food and you can avoid the crowds in town. Excellent place to rest and the staff is super kind.」
