"hotel is very clean and well maintained. The gardens are lovely with plant markers, and we even saw bunnies at night. The boutique has reasonably priced beach clothing. Rooms are comfortable, with eco‑friendly AC that shuts off when you leave. The beach is beautiful, and refillable water stations are convenient if you bring a bottle. The resort has a warm, family‑oriented atmosphere. À la carte restaurants were full when we arrived and unable to book a restaurant.
The main negative issue is staffing. The hotel appears severely understaffed in wait service and food production. Many staff seemed to be students completing apprenticeships — polite and trying hard but overwhelmed. The buffet was most affected: assigned time slots still led to food running out and the kitchen struggling to keep up."
"Love this hotel! We stay at this hotel 3-4 times per season. The staff is amazing & go out of their way to assist you. Included breakfast has something to satisfy everyone with once again, great service staff. The hotel & restaurant are right ON the beach.Nothing like watching the sunrise while having breakfast. The hotel has an old world Madeira feel to it & you will never forget it. It is within walking distance to shopping & restaurants. The bike/motorcycle etc. rental shop is just up the hill. Note to bikers, they are redoing all the sewer lines heading up to Calheta beach & roads are terrible & dangerous. Bike path is even worse, nothing but terrible bumps & holes. Took quite a fall as result of the very bad pavement. But the restaurant overlooking the beach at Calheta is magnificent, so take a taxi, bus or just walk.
The room was clean and no carpet, thank goodness. There is English language television which is nice. The patio outside our room was spacious with table & chairs to enjoy.
Once again, notice the old world Madeira in the lounge furniture in the lobby areas, these are all handmade and spectacular. Can't wait to go again!"
"Had a great stay, very nice rooms, and responsive staff. Perfect location for the city center, festivals, and beach access. They could use a better/more secure way of storing luggage between arrival and checkin and/or checkout and departures, but aside from that perfect stay."
"Magnificent location right on the beach. Elegant but relaxed vibe. Wonderful food. The staff was very attentive to our every need. The only downside was we couldn’t stay longer."
"Beautiful views on the 9 km beach. Can walk to main town by beach. Large food buffet. Food was fine. Restaurants within walking distance if you are not dining there. Many services.
Very relaxing"
"really enjoyed the stay, the dorm rooms are comfortable with privacy curtains, small fan and light in the bed, the bathroom was clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There is a shared kitchen with a good range of utensils. The property is secluded to one end of the island so either you need to catch the bus, take a taxi or go on a long walk to get to anything but the proximity to the beach is amazing and being on the other end of the island it is a perfect getaway, there is 1 restaurant in the area (next to the beach) they serve great food so you're never really missing out if you're looking for a relaxing stay. It would be good to have breakfast included in the price point of this accommodation as they charge 10 euro extra but it isn't a deal breaker. I highly recommend this property if you're visiting Porto Santo"
