"We chose this hotel because the May bank holiday was forecast to be very hot and we specifically wanted somewhere with an outdoor pool. Expedia advertised this hotel as having one, so we booked and drove over 3 hours — only to find out the hotel doesn’t actually have an outdoor pool. Extremely disappointing.
Things got worse when we discovered the AC in our room wasn’t working in 30-degree heat. A helpful receptionist with long black hair quickly fixed it and explained that whenever the key card is removed, the AC switches off and can only be reset by reception.
The next day, after returning from Cheltenham at 2pm, we asked reception to reset the AC again. The short-haired receptionist rudely told us to wait behind a queue of check-ins, despite the reset taking only seconds. An hour later my wife was told it would be sorted, but 3 hours later the AC was still off. I had to go down again and insist it was reset, only to be snapped at that she was busy and working alone.
Even another guest commented on how rude this was. Regardless of staffing issues, paying guests should not wait 3 hours for a simple fix or be spoken to so dismissively.
I raised the issues with Adrian at checkout, but although polite, he showed little interest in resolving the complaint.
Overall, a very disappointing stay with misleading advertising and poor customer service."
"We overall had a wonderful stay, however there were a few areas that improvements are needed.
The good -
-Rooms very spacious (and thank god for the aircon in the heat).
-The property was clean and also had a wonderful garden area. It’s really close to everything as well.
-Breakfast was also really good value for money with everything you can think of available.
-Friendly staff
The bad
-Check in. Minimal staff to check guests in at 3pm (check in time) so was extremely long wait. Were offered free drinks from the bar as an apology (which turned out to be a limited selection when claiming when that were not made aware of when first given them, however they are aware of how many guests are checking in on what day, staffing accordingly would make sense.
-Bathroom really needs updating - the shower over the bath has zero pressure. The anti slip severely stained, as is the plug hole. Tap for sink also only just hangs over the sink so when washing hands, water goes everywhere.
We were also unfortunately to find hairs from previous guest still in the bath
-Cleaners. On morning of check out, we were making most of our room before leaving due to us not wanting to be too early to where we were heading onto. Around 9:30 the cleaner knocked to see if we were still present. Made her aware that we didn’t plan on leaving until around 10:30/10:45.
20 minutes later she knocked again and seemed extremely annoyed that we were still there."
"This was such a great family hotel. Family room was spacious and lovely set up. The kids loved the swimming pool (which offered towels which helped with luggage and washing when we got home!). Breakfast had a great selection and of good quality too. Will definitely be staying here again."
"The hotel is undergoing a renovation at the moment but it is difficult to see where the refurbishment has been completed and where not. Our room was very sparse so if it has been renovated it is not properly finished.
Also, we were looking forward to a quiet weekend break but only found out when we got there that an 80’s night was taking place on the Sunday which went on until well after midnight and disrupted our sleep.
Don’t think we will be returning any time soon."
"Went during Bank holiday. I booked a room with double and single. Got bumped off which was very annoying.
There is not air-conditioning and rooms can get very hot.
Staff were generally good especially Matt.
Breakfast was average"
"Reception staff welcoming, bar staff equally as lovely, room was perfect. Hotel really clean and presentable. Breakfast was very nicely presented, great choice and cooked to perfection. No complaints at all ! Compliments to the team"
"Wr use the hotel often when visiting our granddaughter, so don't use any of the facilities.
The staff have always been charming and extremely helpful if there has been a problem."
"Checked in, saw room was on a floor with lots of kids running about the hallway, also right at the elevator, and an adjoining door to noisy neighbours.
Wasn’t allowed to change rooms without £100 change fee.
Next morning, iron wasn’t working.
Breakfast had 2 girls rushed off their feet, told that all food that was available was out
I asked about croissants and pastries, told they had run out (this was at 0855)
Over all terrible stay, would have been better and cheaper at the premier inn 2 mins away."
