Descend to the Calcara Beach on the northeastern coast for excellent coastal views. Encounter eerie fumaroles and hot springs that remain from what may have been a volcano. The beach is a little north of the Port of Panarea, where most visitors to the island disembark. Pick out your favorite boats in the harbor, which is backed by large, forest-covered mountains.
Embark on a hike along one of the winding, narrow trails running from the port to the charming towns of San Pietro, Drautto and Ditella on the isle’s eastern flank. The western portion of the island consists of a vast nature reserve. Ascend the old mule trail to the Punta del Corvo summit for spectacular views of the park.
