We had a king sized room on the second floor. Comfortable bed. Amazing views of the lake plus it was lovely to have a balcony with outside seating. It was easy to control the heating. Good self service breakfast.

Beautiful room with a balcony and reservoir view. Lovely to be able to sit outside with a cup of tea after a busy day at Rutland. Staff extremely helpful and welcoming. Breakfast choice excellent and good to have healthy options and oats milk but a pity the majority of hotels now have self serve tea/coffee via machines although appreciate it does save costs.

The hotel is in a beautiful location by Rutland Water and there is easy access to a lovely walk beside the lake. Our room was very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable and we had a large bathroom with good quality towels and toiletries. However, the lighting in the room was very dim and this was not helped by the fact that the window looked out onto a wall. That said, breakfast was very good and there is ample parking. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

Exceptional shower However Steam room and sauna need to be fixed and usable - they were broken and closed 7am breakfast opening or option as had to leave at 7.30am.

The “hotel” is really a series of separate buildings spread out across a large site. There is no central location to meet for drinks/ coffee. The only restaurant is at the top of a hill (accessed by steep stairways/roads ). There appeared to be some golf buggies but it was not clear how these could be accessed. The restaurant was large and cafeteria-like, lacking in atmosphere. There was a restricted menu; no room service available (you have to collect your meal) and I was told at 4.15 that they stopped serving afternoon tea at 4pm ( which is exactly when most people would want it). The room was clean and well decorated but it was very dimly lit and had minimal toiletries ( no shower cap/tissues). At just over £200 a night for a standard double room it was not great value.

The hotel was fine but broken reading light (reported but no action), paper ordered but then forgotten, buggy often late. On first night no information about the buggies - choice between steep steps or so called “ramp”which was a lounge winding and very steep path. With heart condition very difficult. Room in Oakham faced blank wall - should have been warned. Universally nice staff but overall a bit lackadaisical.

Friendly staff. Good dinner menu that was perfectly cooked with good depth of flavour and clearly a good quality stock. Paid for a King room but the windows were right up afainst a wall, not impressed with that at all!

A very nice hotel with great facilities. However, disabled parking spaces were occupied consistently by the hotel contractors. Mentioning this to hotel staff had no effect. This didn't help our access.

The room was nice and clean but the bed was firm and pillows were terrible. It was really nice to have a balcony for the dog though. We used the pool which was nice (busy as expected) the gym looked amazing but we didn’t use it. We ate twice in the bar which again was nice enough.

Ideally situated for Rutland Water, spacious grounds. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. Breakfast rather noisy, with a holiday camp feel.
