The dinner was incredible. Liked the location - beautiful and quiet. The assortment of onsens was fun. Ability to walk up the hill to hiking trails is a big plus. The hotel has a rich history worth promoting.

Stayed in the south building, which has more newly renovated rooms and closest to the front desk/lobby area. Our room was huge and clean, with a serene view of the trees/hill from our window. The property is showing its age, but that did not affect our experience as we really enjoyed all the indoor and outdoor baths. There are restaurants and a gift shop on the property, and lots of restaurants and stores within walking distance. Breakfast buffet was wonderful, with both Japanese and western options. My picky teenager really liked the breakfast buffet. Great location, you can walk to the national park and Jugoduni to see the source of the mineral hot springs. We traveled here from Sapporo and it was an easy train and bus ride to the property. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a relaxing time.

It was a nice location next to Jigokudan Vally and a hikeable distance to nearby sites. A street of shops, restaurants and 7-Eleven next door was nice to have. The staff was friendly and the hotel itself clean. The onsen definitely has an older interior and feel but a variety of soaking pools. We chose the dinner and breakfast buffet option. The dinner buffet was a little disappointing but the breakfast buffet was great. I’ve just had a better dinner buffet experience at other onsens with selection and taste.

The service, buffet, facilities and bath were all excellent! The size of the onsen bath area was probably the biggest I have been to in Japan and the buffet dinner/breakfast was amazing, with all sorts of food, including crab legs, salmon roe, venison, sushi, etc., both Japanese and Western dishes. They have free parking near by as well. Truly enjoyed our stay and will be back again some day!

I had really enjoyed the Grand Baths. Although at first, I was very self conscious about being naked, as the time passed, I was more into the different baths itself. My favourite was the outdoor bath with the hot water and cold breeze. It was very refreshing.
