The trip to arrive was exhausting and difficult , we arrived late . Despite it all we were received very gracefully and had a very friendly reception . The room is very specious, very comfortable Despite an horrific weather , at the end of June our room was heated

We LOVED staying at this property. The caretakers are the loveliest. They are painstakingly bringing this property back to it's old glory. Lillianne made a DELICIOUS dinner and Henrike was an absolute delight to talk with. We LOVED seeing their progress and are looking forward to our next visit. We were surprised at another guests treatment of the caretakers. We've always tried to not be "ugly Americans" and were appalled by another French mans treatment not only of us but of the wonderful people caring for all of us. It was quite a disturbing presentation of rudeness. We hopefully will be back!

Schwedische Herzlichkeit im französsichen Chateau

Ein wunderschönes Schloss direkt am Jakobsweg und fantastische Gastgeber! Die Schlosseherren sind völlig unkomplizierte Schweden. Obwohl wir es nicht erwarten konnten, zauberten uns die Beiden ein fantastisches Abendessen, dass das beste der französischen und schwedischen Küche verband. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und auch die netten Gespräche bleiben uns in angenehmer Erinnerung.

Return visit

This was our second stay at Château de la Motte, which provides us with a convenient stopover on our way to family in Italy. We were welcomed back like old friends by Liliane and Henrik and, having emailed them in advance to arrange it, we had dinner with them. They have been busy during the year since our last visit, maintaining and refreshing the château which however retains its charm and beauty. Our family suite was comfortable and spacious, but we knew that from last year. Liliane provided us with extra towels for our pre-breakfast swim in the outdoor pool, and Henrik was as attentive as ever at breakfast (we were the only guests, possibly due to a glitch on another booking site). We set off on our journey rested and refreshed, determined to return and perhaps stay for longer another time.

Fantastic chateau with fantastic hosts

Great accommodation - very welcoming and friendly hosts. The food was excellent in quality and superb, yes, superb, value for money. Eat in in the evenings - don't bother with elsewhere. Great pool in the chateau's extensive grounds. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt. Die Gastgeber sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit bei allen Fragen. Das Frühstück ausgezeichnet und sehr lecker . Außerdem hat uns das gemeinsame Frühstück mit den anderen Gästen gut gefallen. Die Zimmer waren sehr schön.

Great experience and the owners are the most lovely people I have met in years!! I absolutely recommend this hotel both for business as well as for pleasure. If you want to sleep in a chateau and want to avoid hotels that all look the same, this is the place to go!!!!

Bon séjour malgré les désagréments

Séjour correct, chambres confortables sauf les oreillers des lits simples qui n'étaient pas de bonne qualité. Le petit déjeuner était trop simple et nous avons regretté l'absence de produits frais (fruits, pains autres qu'industriels ( pain au lait de supermarché ...))

Stopever which left us wishing for a longer stay.

Delightful stay: Château itself is a jewel, but hosts' welcome made our stay special. Rang ahead to confirm arrival time and availability of dinner; arrived 30 minutes before dinner, but no problem coming down a bit late after showering and changing; dinner very nice and accommodating for our kids (13 and 11, who aren't, however, difficult about food). Stroll in grounds after dinner. Swim in open air pool before abundant breakfast. Setting off to continue our journey was like leaving friends. We regularly stay in this area on journey to family in Italy: this was a bit of a treat but, considering hospitality (including dinner for four, and pool, not excessively expensive. Our 'family room ' was, in fact, a two bedroom suite with bathroom and sitting room in one of the towers. Liliane and Henrik clearly enjoy getting to know their guests, but were not intrusive. We plan to stay with them again on future trips. BTW, not our Aston Martin in the photo!
