This is a very nice hotel for business or other visit to Ningbo. It is also very conveniently located to the nice and poplar shopping mall in town. It is pretty and all amentias and farcicalities are pretty and working.

The staffs are extremely friendly; the breakfast was fabulous. The condition was outdated, but we were told it will be completely renovated soon. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Good location comfortable rooms and decent choice of drinks on club floor. Breakfast average as several dishes cold as bacon not put under a heat lamp. Frozen bread on last day but overall a good experience.

This is probably the 8 or 9th time I have stayed at your hotel. I always stay there when I am in Ningbo as it is in a convenient location and the hotel is usually pleasant, clean and reasonably priced. On this trip, I arrived after 30 hours of travel just before midnight and was told after check in that the 'air conditioning' was not working and there was no heat in the hotel. My room was freezing cold, to the point that I needed to double up the blankets and take a hot bath just to get warm enough to sleep. I was on a tight turn around with several meetings in a short period of time so it was not feasible for me to change hotels. The heat was still off when I left 3 days later. This really isn't acceptable for a modern hotel at this level. Nobody offered any discount or credit for a future stay. Very disappointed. On another note, not that big a deal but you are a 'French' hotel - you used to offer a proper french press of coffee with breakfast, and the new coffee machines make really poor quality coffee. I think you should switch back to a brewed coffee and better quality ground.

The weather was 40-degrees cold out side, but the heating system did not work in the room due to remodeling whole building, so I couldn't sleep. They brought a portable heater to room the next day, but the room temperature was still cold.

Bad experience

No temperature control. It’s 15 degree C Ask Manager to get portable heater I ask Hotel.com to cancel my non refundable booking and hotel.com told me no one speak English had to call call back 30 then another 30 min Talk to front desk n they agreed to cancel without penalty ., the reason I choose this hotel is someone said good ( but if watch carefully all talk about restaurant only n not stay ) the WIFI is bad ( even local friend said connection , nothing to do with USA .. google etc I saw someone comment about the air condition before , I am positive something wrong with ventilation here Glad that I moved out , old hotel no upgrade. Summer hit winter cold !!!!

"freezing" experience

Sofitel is one of my choice hotel if it is available in my destination and experience has always been good. But not this time. After I checked in arriving rather late at night, I was informed entire aircon system was under renovation and hence there will be no heating function in the room. It is December month where temperature dips below 10 deg C! Needless to stay, the stay in the room is very uncomfortable, especially before and after showers. I was wondering why there was no notification to me before arrival at least I can decide whether to change to another hotel.

Been staying in this hotel for the past 4yrs whenever we are in Ningbo. All was great but realise this year due to their new rules, certain items example shower cap, conditioner, etc... are not provided in the room. Need to call for room service if you need it hence a little troublesome when rushing for time.

hotel should't even be open right now

they were undergoing air conditioning renovation, which meant there was no air conditioning in the rooms. they shouldn't have even taken reservations, it was miserable at night (a cool lovely 79 degrees). i had them open the window which helped a little but now i was treated to the sounds of the construction right next to the hotel (they are putting in a train station). they also had moved the gym to a tiny room so it became essentially a one person gym.
