  • St. John’s Point Lighthouse was first exhibited in 1844. The original lighthouse was painted white. In 1902 three black bands were added. Its current markings of black with two yellow bands have been in place since 1954. The color of the light was changed from white to red on 1st July 1860. The tower was originally only 14m tall. It was extended to its current dizzying height of 40m in the 1880's and is now the tallest onshore lighthouse on the Irish coast. The lighthouse was automated in 1981. I was in room 321 lino into bathroom was lifting room noisy with the fans from kitchen did not go off until 10pm and i was woken by them again at 5 45 so no lie-in breakfast was good staff were very attentive and pleasant i would stay again but would ask for a quieter room

Overall good stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Great selection at bar and ample parking space. Comfortable bedding. Rooms and bathrooms could do with some makeover, cleaning and maintenence (patches on walls, spiders and cobwebs)

Nice hotel for a couple of night in Ards. Free parking on site. Check in was easy enough. Short wait until my room was ready. Good size room, very clean. Wi-Fi was free and a useful speed. Breakfast and dinner in the onsite restaurant were good. Easy checkout.
