Stayed here on a visit to Wigtown in late August 2026. Communication was great with multiple emails confirming reservation and instructions. Although there are no staff of duty the instructions on how to get the key were timely and detailed and we had no problems at all getting in and checking out, and we arrived late. The bunkhouse is clean, smelled fresh, and the rooms were nice. We stayed in rooms 1 & 3 and it was lovely. Also very quite! The bathrooms were modern, very clean, and well equipped. There is also a large common room where we had group meals and an excellent kitchen with everything we needed including fridge. Beds and linen were clean and smelled fresh. Owners have thought of everything...they even have boot dryers! I highly recommend the Bunkhouse! If ever anywhere near Wigtown again I will definitely stay there. I would especially like to thank the very nice young lady who came to clean up. She was very pleasant and even carried a bag out to our vehicle for us. Oh, and there is a great fish & chips place just a few doors down that stays open pretty late. A great overall experience!

Basic accomodation (a bed, a wall heater, a coat rack, an adjacent bathroom, and a shared kitchen) but well mantained, clean and comfortable. Excellecent value for the price.

Very good value overall , shower room very good spec . Bunk bed was very used, too soft and noisey . Toilet next door can be heard , but overall it was clean and good .

Not stayed in a hostel before so didn’t know what to expect , I was pleasantly surprised with the property , it was clean and nicely decorated with quality fixtures and fittings and nice friendly staff , and at a very low price , will certainly stay again if needed in the future .

Very simple property but had everything we needed. There is a chip shop next door, a shop a 2 min walk away and a pub right across the road and the locals were all very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

We were very impressed by this accommodation and felt the term ‘bunkhouse’ undervalues it. The caretaker was very welcoming, shops nearby make self catering easy. Comfortable bed, and nice clean bathroom. Anyone reading this can be assured that a reservation here will not disappoint.

We needed to stop over before catching the ferry, and this was an ideal stop. Very clean and adequate . Chip shop just a few shops away and a welcoming pub across the road, made it easy for us to deal with our onward journey.

We needed some reasonably priced accommodation that could also take our dog. The Bunkhouse was a great option. Great to have a private room and bathroom. Only three rooms in total meant it was pretty quiet (although the internal doors do bang quite loudly). The kitchen was fine, with a microwave for heating up food and plenty of crockery and utensils. We had great communication from the manager in advance of our stay.

As we were leaving for the ferry, I felt rather guilty that the squeaky door hinges must have disturbed our fellow guests as we departed. A drop of oil would work wonders! A brilliant value place to stay

Slap bang in town next to pub and chippy. Supermarket very close too. All round great but just watch you dont get locked out. Doors lock on auto.

Very good value

Obviously recently refurbished. It was fresh, clean and very well located. A minor consideration was the bathroom was next door to the double room and the bedroom was on a key pad, it made me a bit anxious of getting locked out when going to the toilet in the night.
