Staff overall pleasant however heads up early checkins really only an option when asking ahead. My room was great and comfy. Be advised if you haven't drove you will need public transport or a taxi to get into center but they are both easy to use. I would recommend.

The room was spacious as was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of wardrobe space. However it wasn't a quiet room due to the lack of double glazed windows - we overlooked the carpark so could hear noise from there. There were several quick fixes which would've made our stay more enjoyable. Bedroom doors need oiling so that guests can't hear constant squeaking. Plug holes need unblocking as the bath fills with water when you shower. A lamp would be useful on the dressing table/desk as would more accessible sockets by the beds. Stain/varnish furniture which looks dated and scratched. Extra pillows for beds.

The hotel room was not cleaned properly, the bathroom especially. The furniture was very dated. The room was grubby. Hotel Saved by the lovely lady at check in. To be fair the rate was cheap so I wasn’t expecting luxury but the attention to detail in terms of cleaning is poor. I didn’t shower in the morning as I didn’t feel the bathroom was hygienic. Maybe I just got unlucky. Won’t stay again.

The 1970//80s style is generally well maintained throughout the property and its grounds: heavy, wood, concrete and swirly carpets, adonised aluminium window frames. Everything is functional and all the important bits were clea; the occasional 'edge' has been knocked off though and the corridor carpets could do with a clean in places etc. As a combined hotel and conference venue with a convenient location ('service retail park': petrol garage, 7 EV charging points, Mac D's, Pub, Costa, Subway, Asda 'Go' on the other side of the roundabout, 3 minutes from the A1) it is unbeatable though; no aircraft noise though airport closeby. The hotel is quiet when I go typically at the weekend with maybe 5-10 people in the bar on the Sunday evening; drinks reasonably priced. The Racecourse in walking distance - as is the park it is set in with copious running/walking trails in it and the country park <1mile away - if you want to stretch your legs. The 'Upsells' are a concern: the pool/gym/sports club is extra and the breakfast costing 50% of the room rate an insult frankly (tip: MCD's + others across the road and IKEA at Metro center).

Great location for what we were doing for the 3 days. Staff friendly on arrival. Room was clean. Our only complaint would be the hard pillows.
