View of the river from the hotel room is great. I'd recommend booking a room with a view of the river. You can relax and eat while watching the world go by. Very friendly staff. We even requested to check out late and they accommodated us for that.

Booked for 1 Friday night - good prices - club room rates included a complimentary drink at the bar & full breakfast. Clean business style room - ensuite a little dated but clean. Excellent location overlooking the Tyne just up from the swing bridge & Tyne bridge. Had some food in the bar - good protions and good quality. On site car park - maybe a little tight on spaces by discounted rates & convenient. Staff great.

Great location, with reduced parking rate of £12.50 for 24hrs for guests. Hotel has dated decor but rooms are large and clean. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in the room does not work (the panel said we had it set to 17 degrees as it weakly blew out warm air). The large windows cannot be opened and allow sun to stream in but no heat to escape. The room was stifling on arrival with no means to cool it other than a desk fan which helped a little. The beds are comfortable but the heat level in the room led to an uncomfortable night. We have stayed here a few times as it is good value for the location, but we would hesitate to stay during summer again unless we read that they have new air conditioning.

The rooms are a little dated but they look over the river which is nice on a morning having a cuppa. The reception staff are not that helpful. We had a mix up with the parking and Nicola the reception Manager must have been having a bad day she was very reluctant to help and had a very bad attitude. The situation was resolved quite easily and there was no reason for her to make us feel stressed. We left feeling we may never stay there again as we have stayed in other hotels such as Crowne Plaza and The Vermont who have on-site parking and go the extra mile to make your stay exceptional.

This was my second stay at this hotel. I came back because I really liked it the first time! On arrival, our rooms were ready. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered a couple of taxis during our stay which was arranged by the staff. Our baggage was safely left in the luggage room on the day of our departure, which made it so much easier on our last day. If I had any gripe at all, it was in-room information. But this seems to be the same in most hotels these days. I miss having a menu, opening times, local sights etc in a booklet or folder. Using the TV and searching for stuff is just not the same. I wanted to know what time the fitness room was open. But this was not supplied without asking at reception. As I say, a minor gripe. I would most definitely stay at The Copthorne again.

Our stay was brilliant .. As usual! , we were given a room on the 5th floor(, think it was an upgrade) many extras in the room, so clean and comfortable. The staff were lovely, helpful,pleasant and a credit to their workplace. Our 3rd time staying here …And it only gets better! Well Done Copthorne

A reasonable hotel on the quayside of Newcastle.This was once one of the premier hotels, but sadly appears to be in need of a slight refurbishment. The rooms are of a large size however but seem to be in a slight need of a refurb as some of the woodwork, and tea point areas are dated along with the bathrooms. The beds are good and the views on the evenings out of the patio doors are lovely in good weather. So in summary an fairly dated but ok hotel on the Quayside.
