"This hotel far exceeded our expectations it was more like a mini resort and wished we could have stayed longer than the 3 nights.. perfect for exploring the local attractions and only 40-45mins to Alton Towers. The room we had was a 2 bed apartment in the main building, which was much bigger than the photos. The amenities were awesome and there’s a range of free activities and entertainment that was put on whilst we were there. The staff were also amazing, we will be back for sure :-)"

"A mixed bag: positives: house was clean and the key lock and parking was convenient, and food and drink supplies very welcome. Negatives: our booking was changed fairly last minute from “the terrace” to a different house “the Mews” for unknown reasons. (So my review is not for this listing, but for “The Mews”.) "Captured audience so the food was outrageously priced £30.00 plus for a bang basic mixed grill. Parking in a huge car park was £10.00 with plenty of spare places. Even blue badge holders were charged the same but all the disabled bays were taken up by gym users etc and only one badge displayed in 20 plus bays. The signs indicating payment were not noticeable and we saw a few residents falling foul of this. Worst of all. No check in desk. All electronic. Not intuitive at all. So much so that there were staff permanently stood by the consoles helping folks check in and out. Just have a bl@@dy reception desk! There’s knob all other than a KFC nearby (although Champy’s a short drive away is sublime and highly recommended). All in all a comfy bed and that’s about it. This place is more about greed in my opinion. Do yourself a favour and swerve this one. There’s plenty better and cheaper. One more thing, it’s a refurbished property and if you know anything about building, there’s plenty of sticking plasters. You can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear! Greed in my opinion."

"Reception staff were great, very friendly. The pool was fab, nice and clean and great for the kids. The room was a good size and clean, if not a little run down. We had the top room with skylights for windows, one of had a broken blind that wouldn’t go down. It meant we couldn’t make the room dark which made it difficult to get the kids to sleep and when the sun came up at 5am it woke all of us up too. The air con also didn’t work and the room was roasting hot. It had been a sunny day so the room was already hot before we got into it. I suspect staff knew about the issues with the room prior to us checking in as every blind was pulled down except for the one broken one, but obviously I can’t prove this. We tried to change rooms but the hotel was at capacity and by the time we realised the blind didn’t go down we were already unpacked with the kids in bed trying to get them to sleep and it seemed like too much hassle. We all had a terrible nights sleep due to the temp of the room and getting up at the crack of sparrows. In hindsight we should have packed up and moved hotels. Reception staff were apologetic in the morning a advised management would be in touch, however we received an email saying we’d have to go through hotels.com to complain as we had booked through them. Needless to say we didn’t get very far with them. Overall hotel was nice but the issues room really ruined it and would put me off staying again."
