This is our accommodation of choice when we go to Ngāmotu (New Plymouth). The separate accommodation is excellent, and the location is fantastic.

Walkable distance to Bowl of Brooklands was great. Close to supermarkets. Have stayed previously in a self contained unit, (which was good) but this time in the back packer side, Room was clean and airey, but the noise level was bad from other guests returning from concert and ,especially from 5 am with 2 or 3 groups leaving then, Ended up checking out at 6.30am too , Overall place was good but bathroom facilities for guests overdue for a upgrade, Would return again though.

Absolutely stellar place, owner is super cool & helpful, kitchen & dining area great. located 2 minute walk from PaknSave, 6 minutes from bicycle rental. Great value!

The manager was incredibly rude immediately to us on arrival because we accidentally parked in his space. There were not enough toilets or bathrooms and we often had to wait. The whole place was a bit run down, ants in bedroom, cockroach in bathroom, webs on bedroom ceiling. No information given about kitchen closures and we were blindsided by that. Nice lounge area.

En fait, c'est une auberge de jeunesse ! Si j'avais su cela, jamais je n'aurai réservé. Personne à l'accueil, il faut téléphoner, pas pratique du tout, puis attendre .. J'ai eu droit, vu le prix payé, à un grand appartement, bien équipé, propre, mais au dessus des tables ou les résidents mangent, bonjour l'intimité. Pas de clim, en fin d'après midi jusqu'à 32° (situé sous les toits métaliques) et obligé de faire des courants d'air pour faire baisser la température. Vu personne pendant mon séjour ni à mon départ.

Older property with a few squeaky floorboards but was quiet overall. Big kitchen to use, was kept clean by users. Bathroom ok, brown toilet bowl was a concern. Good bed and clean bedroom. Well situated in town.

Nice place, has everything you need for a stay. In a safe and quiet neighbourhood. Very close to New World/ Countdown for food shops. Brett at reception was very friendly and welcoming. Comfy beds. Showers take a little while to heat up so it felt like I was wasting water but the hot water came through eventually. Would definitely recommend Duck & Drakes!

Brett was great, supportive, and has a caring personality...carried my bags from the car as i was on crutches. My bed was very comfortable with a nice view out on the courtyard. The kitchen has everything and there is a large lounge, sun/day room and dinning room...spacious, tidy and clean. Great value for money.
