Climb Mt Zas. Naxos city is nice and good balance of activity and quiet. The countryside is also very beautiful and accessible.
Beautiful island with a lot of history to see!
Family friendly, nice beaches. Not heavily commercialized like Naxos or Santorini
I visited 3 Greek islands. Naxos seemed a bit rough around the edges, a mountainous island, it had a great mountain village called Filoti and a truly unique cafe/restaurant not far from Filoti, Rotunda. I did not think Naxos was a "beach" island.
I visited Paros, Naxos and Santorini. Of these three, Naxos was a bit rough around the edges and aside from the port, very mountainous. We did not visit any beaches, but the impression I got was that this is really not a beach destination.
