Great room for solo travelers. The host was always ready to accommodate to my needs, even before I checked into the BnB. Breakfast was always very prompt and the options were good. Location of the BnB was great, too. Booking and staying here was stress free, easy, and affordable.

4 amazing days in Naples

Had an amazing stay. Giovanni and Maurizio We’re so kind and helpful. The room was clean, and breakfast was delicious. Close walk to restaurants, the ferry and public transportation. Can’t wait to go back!

The first impression wasn't good! But then we understood the unique settings of old Napoli, and loved the place! Location, Napolitano ambiance, restaurants, shopping, people everywhere! Napoli is what it is, trashy but spectacular, crazy but unforgettable...Watch out for the cars and motorcycles!

Mauricio was amazing in helping is get situated. The place is on the second floor and you need help using the elevator. We had the Filippo I suite. It is quite roomy. The ceiling is a work of art. The bathroom had plenty of room for places to hang towels. The bed is comfortable and the technology for the lights and ordering breakfast in good. We enjoyed having breakfast delivered to the door and it was tasty. Not a lot of options but for a neopolitan breakfast you don't need much. Staying in the Spanish district has a lot of advantages including a lot of restaurants near by. Ask for recommendations. Also close (about 11 minute walk) to the beginning of the hop on hop off tour. Definitely recommend staying here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delightful Boutique style accommodation in a traditional mixed use courtyard building. Set in the characterful Spanish quarter it provides an authentic Neapolitan experience with the lively Spaccanapoli a short walk and a wide choice of bars and restaurants in the narrow streets close by. (The Spanish Quarter streets may be a challenge for those using walking aids.) The port, opera, Galleria Umberto I and Royal Palace are all readily accessible. The hosts were very helpful and we will not hesitate to book again for our next trip to Naples.

Beautiful room with wonderful hosts

If you are looking for a lovely room with attentive hosts in the heart of the Spanish quarters this is the place to go. The hosts were so very helpful starting a few days before arrival to make sure you have all the info you need when travelling to a foreign country and checked in frequently during the stay. The room is spacious and comfortable. I stayed in a room with the street view and enjoyed being able to throw open the big windows and enjoy the sights and sounds of the area but when you close the windows the noises of the neighborhood disappear and it is quiet for sleeping. There is lots of very good food nearby and the location offers good access to metro as well as easy walking distance to all the sites in Centro histórico. PS the breakfast is lovely, you can customize your selection the day before. If I was to return I would stay here again for sure.

Neapolitan Charm within the Old Quarter

The San Mattia is in the.heart of the old Spanish Quarter with all its attendant chaos and liveliness. It is the Naples everyone thinks of when considering this city. The property is in a centuries old building which, like all in the area looks onto a very narrow but relatively quiet street. The only drawback can be the fairly long uphill if you have mobility issues and the sometimes frightening moto activity, but it is part of the Naples charm. The San Mattia is historic 17th century with modern amenities. Simple in style and pleasantly charming. The hosts, Giovanni and Maurizio are very accommodating and helpful and always available via app to lend a hand. The breakfast is Italian, so cold, and always served outside the room and early. My only wish would have been for more coffee. In short, this is a lovely niche in which to experience the real Napoli with everything within good walking distance. The metro is an easy walk to get you to other parts of the city and you are only steps from the main shopping area on the via Toledo. If you wish to have an authentic Neapolitan experience, this is an excellent place to stay.

Splendido !!

Sent a message that we had arrived and we were met at the property by the hosts. Immediately transported back in time, huge stone archway into an inner courtyard. Small lift to use or two flights of wide stone stairs, we found them manageable. Our hosts Maurizio and Giovanni were friendly and explained everything perfectly. We felt extremely welcome throughout our 3 night stay. Our historical room had a modern clean bathroom with large shower, shampoo and gel provided. There was a good sized fridge, microwave and coffee maker (pods provided) WIFI connection fine. Air Con good. Easy to use breakfast ordering via pad on the wall, we found more than enough selection. The large bed was especially comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for Maurizio and Giovanni. The property is in whats known as the Spanish Quarter of the city , turn left out of the property take second or third right and immerse yourself around all the streets, there is plentiful places to eat in the evening all good value. A real Napoli hit to the senses. If you want a more modern vibe just keep walking straight down the hill. We would definitely stay at Residence San Mattia again, excellent and authentic. Thanks guys.

Highly recommend for peace & quiet!

Everything about my stay was amazing. From the start, Maurizio and Giovanni reached out to me to arrange check in times and make sure I arrived safely! I chose the bnb originally for the quiet location and the a/c, and it met both requirements. There is a wall a/c with a remote, so you can set the temperature to your preference. With the windows shut it's comfy, cool, and quiet all night! Breakfast is delivered outside your door, and you can select in advance from an online menu, even while you are out. The hosts also kindly provided my breakfast the night before my early morning tours, so I never had to go without. Only a few things to be aware of: my taxi had a hard time finding a route to the bnb due to road blocks. I imagine the hosts might have helped if I asked because they arranged my taxi out for me. The closet metro stop is Toledo, ~10 mins away, but you have to climb a flight of stairs on the way back to the bnb, as well as 2 long flights up to the room, which can be a lot at the end of a long day. An outdoor elevator at the property costs 20 cents but I couldn't be bothered to search for the change. While the bnb is rather out of the way of the main sites, it's very close to San Carlo Theatre. There is also no laundry, you have to use a public laundromat. Finally, special shout out to my hosts who gave me a cold pack when I needed help after twisting my ankle! Thank you so much!! Overall, excellent stay and I hope to be back.

The San Mattia is a small hotel in two floors of a centuries old building in the Spanish Quarter of Naples. It’s in a great location, very near shopping, restaurants and within a 15 minute walk of many of the “must see” sights of Naples. Our room was very nicely furnished with high ceilings and extremely tall windows overlooking the street below. It was also very quiet. Our breakfast was left each morning in the hallway just outside our room. The hosts were helpful, responsive, and very accommodating , especially when we had technical problems with the initial booking. We highly recommend the Residence San Mattia.
