My room (facing the bus station and the flag museum) was very big, clean and well equipped (kettle, tea, shampoo, etc)
Unfortunately, it was not fully isolated and I could hear some noise (people talking in the corridor, traffic etc). However, this was not a big issue.
Breakfast was very good, lots of choice (plenty of different jams, juices, salty options).
Location is very convenient: just in front of the bus station and 15-20 minutes walking from the main attractions.
I was expecting more attention to the guests. Reception staff could not speak English, except for basic words (manager however was always around and he was very helpful). I asked to have a driver to Alinja Castle and the price proposed by the hotel was almost double of what I found elsewhere (different hotel). This was quite disappointing actually. At check-out, nodoby asked how was my staying.
All this considered, I would have probably chosen a different accommodation. Not for the hotel itself (which I liked) rather for the lack of human connection and the impression of have not being properly assisted. After all, it depends on what you are looking for.
The room came with lots of quality amenities and space.
The breakfast had a good selection of Azerbaijan food along with hot dishes to order (some weren't available unfortunately) which we enjoyed. There are big wedding halls below, we didn't witness any events but may get noisy and booked up so please do check in advance.
Location was slightly away from most of the attractions but it is opposite the bus station and plenty of taxis. 30 min walk takes you to first part of the attractions. This is the only one hotel available to book online when we were searching, we realised most are walk in's in this part of the world.
We were given a smoking room at first which had very strong odour which we asked to change and we had a second one with slightly less odour so please bear in mind there are smoking rooms in the hotel. It took very long to change the room as we waited in reception only for us to find out that they would not inform us but we needed to keep checking although it was quiet. The reluctant customer service continued with no replies to hello's or response to queries. Lack of English speakers here is a major problem and we couldn't communicate anything even if important even at reception.
Room service was hard to order with English but had good soups with reasonable price. We walked to the restaurant and got a menu ourselves as no one gave us one despite asking few times and no one picked up the dishes from the room for the day or next. We found most staff on phones
Don’t go to that place.
Bathroom was partly smeared with excrementa.
The floor was full of dust and dirt.
Bad food. Only a few guest and many different food. So everything was old and many times warmed up. The worst breakfast I ever saw.
