This place was an experience. The staff were so nice and friendly. The room was romantic and comfortable. The food was authentic Japanese style. We loved it!
Very nice view of the lake. Very helpful staff. The rooms have a private onsen hot tub on the balcony. The rooms have tatami and are set up to sleep on the floor. You can request a bed frame to elevate the futon, but it's better to request a bed when making the reservation (although you may enjoy sleeping on a futon, Japanese style).
The onsen hotel stands on the northeastern side of Lake Biwa and each room offers a quiet and magnificent view of the lake. I love the in-room massage chair as I can relax for however long I like after soaking myself in the onsen. I hope to visit it again!
My second time staying at Beniayu after about 10 years. Perhaps it was due to COVID that the experience did not feel as personal as before but the staff were generally polite and helpful. There were multiple foreign staff to perhaps help with communicating with foreign travellers but I felt that it kind of distorted the "Ryokan experience". However, its still a recommended accomodation.
My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel for 4 days and 3 nights, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The hotel offers an array of amenities, including an indoor onsen and outdoor onsens on each floor. The onsen was clean, well-maintained and provided the perfect way to unwind after a long day.
One of the highlights of our stay was the delicious breakfast and dinner that were served every day. The hotel offered a different variety of dishes each day, and we were impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. The meals were a perfect blend of traditional Japanese cuisine and modern twists, and we looked forward to every meal.
The staff at the hotel were friendly and welcoming, and they were able to speak English which made our stay much more comfortable. They were always available to assist us with our needs and provided valuable recommendations for local attractions and restaurants.
Overall, our stay at this hotel was excellent. We enjoyed every corner of the hotel, from the beautifully designed rooms to the serene onsen facilities. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Japan.
This was a great place to stay for the traditional Japanese ryokan experience. Our room was immaculate and very nicely designed. The open air bath was a delight, and the massage chair in the room was an added bonus. The kaiseki meal (traditional Japanese multi course meal) was very good, albeit slightly expensive. The staff were all very friendly and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant, even though we don't speak Japanese. We also appreciated the free shuttle bus service to and from the train station.
Massage chair in the room was a nice touch. Staff were very helpful. Even helped us to clean our soiled shoes from hiking. Room facing lake was very peaceful. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Only issue is salmon was used in many dishes (maybe due to the cheapest plan that I have chosen)
