Good if you need somewhere cheap to sleep and thats it. The property is pretty run down, they make an effort to cover it up but the whole place smells a little like cigarettes. The room was clean and laundered for our stay, though I have heard some bad experiences in this regard from others. Had very limited interactions with the staff, so nothing good or bad to say there. One thing I will say is that the location is great. on the main strip of the village, quite close to the event we were attending which was very convenient.
The clean room had high ceilings, a private bathroom, a small fridge and cable TV. The linens on the bed and the towels in the bathroom were scrupulously clean.
The window featured blackout curtains. The room was cleaned daily.
The check-in was pleasant. The stay included continental breakfast, which featured up to two choices of bread for toast, croissants daily, up to three choices of muffins, good coffee, two choices of tea, real cream and tasty strawberry jam.
There was free wifi, and the staff of this family-run hotel were kind and accomodating. They loaned me a phone charger when mine failed, and supplied cutlery when I needed some.
Check-out was also pleasant, and I would not hesitate to return.
I know what to expect when I stay here, a comfortable bed, a shower and washroom. I’m not there to spend time in the room - Montreal has lots to offer and keep you busy 24hrs. So if you’re looking for a place to crash and not break the bank, then Hotel Ste-Catherine is the choice.
It was ok, didn’t feel too secure because the locks weren’t great. Location was good, room itself was fine. You get what you pay for, wouldn’t stay for more than a couple nights.
I knew I was staying in a dive of a hotel, which I like. Parking was behind the hotel and cheap. Staff were great. Room, bedsheets, and bathroom were all clean. Lock on door was flimsy but I had nothing of value to steal. Would stay again if in the area and needed a quick over nighter. Coffee and muffin in the morning a nice bonus.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Homeless gathering around the entrance to the hotel. Raggedy carpeting throughout the entire “hotel.” No breakfast provided. Cable TV off and on. I would not stay here if it were free.

This is a good option for a budget, short-term stay. It is an older property so people should adjust their expectations before staying here.
On the positive side, the hotel is located very close to a metro station, is close to many dining options in addition to being close to shopping. Rooms are clean, come complete with a fridge and my bed was very comfortable. Staff are friendly and fully bilingual.
This is not a good choice for anyone with mobility issues or has trouble negotiating stairs. Breakfast is included but the selection is extremely limited. You may be better off getting your coffee and muffin elsewhere.
I regret booking this hotel. I should have checked the location better as it is in a very run down part of the Gay Village of Montreal and not at all what I wanted. The hotel was up a flight of stairs that made me uneasy just getting past the gruff man leaning across the entrance to the hotel. Even the taxi driver wasn't sure I should be there. Within 5 minutes of getting the room I left. I lost the money for the nights I booked but decided my safety and cleanliness were more important. I went across town to near McGill University and stayed in a clean safe apartment. Lesson learned. Don't use this hotel.

I felt nostalgic on that hotel and reminded me of the old french hotels with the old tv. It’s very minimalistic and budget friendly.
This is best hotel to stay if want to enjoy the Village. Conveniently located, cold air conditioner, hot shower, comfy bed, near three Metro stops, and nicest staff. Any visit I come up this is where I stay now.
Ì think , everything was good.
Although the room was small and compact, this was exactly what we were looking for, just to spend the night in a clean and small place and spend the day exploring the city. The gentleman at the reception was very polite, patient and helpful and gave us complete guidance.
