Nice hotel close to Monteverde Cloud Preserve

We checked in on a very windy night in winter. The person at the reception was very helpful. We had two rooms and a baby and on his own he mentioned that since one of the rooms wasn't booked the following night, we could checkout late if we wanted. This was very helpful. At night, the winds raged, the rooms seemed as if they were about the blow away, it was quite thrilling. The location was great -- right opposite the driveway for the hotel is the Monteverde Cloud Preserve admissions office (where they will issue vouchers for you). Everything was great.

Birding Hotspot

Used this as a basecamp for birding the area. Gardens are well kept, food for breakfast was ok and being out of town and in the forest was great. Lot of school kids on spring break made lower cabins pretty noisy but the manager up graded me to a quiet upper cabin. Overall quite pleased.

Nice hotel close to the Monteverde Cloud Forest and the Curi Cancha Reserve. The staff where great always asking if I needed anything and where friendly to talk to. The free breakfast is good and they are very quick to serve you. The free wifi was good although it is only accessible in areas near the restaurant and reception but it's free so what can you expect. One thing that wasn't great was the showers as there never seemed to be any hot water, but I managed and it began to be quite refreshing. Overall my stay here was great any I would stay here again if I find myself in Monterverde again.

Manageable

Very dark old rooms. It had a gloomy and unkept feeling to it. I think the rooms used to be Shaker houses. The dinning room and outside of the building looked nice and had some charm. The breakfast and coffee were hands down the worst we had on our entire trip. I'd only stay here if you wanted to be close to the park. The main host was very friendly and helpful.

N'y allez pas!!! Gars à l'accueil très gentil mais ça s'arrête là! L'hôtel était vide mais il nous a placé au fond, ça faisait peur! Bibittes mortes sur le dessus des lits. Odeur de vieille humidité intense. Douche avec trous et bibitte. Avait l'air d'un ancien hôtel bien mais qui a été laissé à l'abandon. Loin de tout, pas éclairé le soir, pas de client, Internet à la réception seulement

Away from the bustle of downtown Monteverde

Amid local flora, fauna and birdllife and close to good walking trials, this hotel with its rustic rooms separate from the main buildingi and large impersonal dining room had the feel of a hostel catering for overnight groups In fact one group left the morning after our arrival and we then shared this sprawling hotel with only one other person. The Americn/Spanish speaking owner? served free drinks, but wasn't keen to rustle up any food , instead telling us there were eateries, close by which we never found. We went to bed hungry. At breakfast the young servers didn't have a clue about service, just placing food on the table whether we wanted it or not. On the plus side the beds were comfortable, the rooms spacious but this didn't make up for the forlorn air of the place when we visited.

Pleasant hotel close to Monteverde reservations.,

I enjoyed my stay and quite liked the quirks of the creaky cabins. Staff were happy and v helpful l e.g. giving lifts up or down road if they saw you and helping with tour and transport bookings.
