"Room & shower both very good. No wardrobe or drawers but there are pegs & hangers for clothes. Bed was very comfortable. Staff very friendly & thank you for the message on the mirror for our anniversary ! Location of the hotel is very good. Approx 20 min walk from train station but you can take a local bus (9), get off at Peasholm & hotel is over the road. Five minute walk to The Shambles & ten minutes to Minster. Lots of places nearby for food & drink including a Coop and an M& S for any juice, snacks for the room or picnic items for days out. We didnt do breakfast but had one evening meal in hotel. You order at the bar & collect food when ready. Food was tasty & well priced. Hotel seems more aimed at younger people or families with board and video games available in foyer ( snooker & fusbol as well) but even though we are older, we enjoyed the stay and were made to feel very welcome 😊 There is also a gym - we didnt use that. You are so close to the main town but far enough away to not have any outside noise late at night. We would happily stay again if in York "

"A Grand Hotel indeed. The Hotel is very close to York Railway Station and has all the facilities one would expect from a five-star hotel. The rooms are very spacious, clean and modern looking with all aspects of your stay taken care of prior (if required by the staff) The rooms are also serviced daily, which is of a great benefit whilst you are out in the City. The bar areas are also calming and welcoming. Truly a five-star Hotel indeed. "

"Comfortable but dated. Bathroom smelt of damp after showering. For similar stays would expect espresso coffee machine in room and replenished water each day. "

"Ideally situated, 5 min walk from railway station, 2 mins from car park. Close to shops, bars and other venues. Staff are excellent and friendly. I really couldn't fault it."

"The room was lovely, the shower was the highlight definitely, only minor issue was the lack of air conditioning, the room was quite warm and so I had to crack a window. Not that much of an issue in the spring but might be annoying in the summer"

"Great location within walking distance to all shops and tourist attractions. Tesco local next door and Sainsbury seconds away. Walkable to York train station in approx 15 mins. Very nice breakfast - friendly staff - top marks"
