I recently stayed at the Ibis in Milan and, while the location is undoubtedly convenient, the overall room experience left a lot to be desired.
First, the room itself was small and felt quite outdated. The décor could use a refresh, and the compact bathroom was particularly disappointing – damaged kickboards, minimal space for toiletries, and an overall worn look that detracted from the comfort. There was only one small bin provided for the entire room and bathroom, which wasn’t practical for a multi-day stay.
A major issue was the lack of functioning plug outlets that fit a standard EU plug. This made it frustrating to charge devices without an adapter, which really shouldn’t be an issue in a modern hotel. The air conditioning was also underwhelming – it never truly got cold, which made sleeping uncomfortable, especially during the warmer months.
Other basic amenities were missing. There was no fridge or safe in the room, both of which would be standard in most hotels. Only one extra pillow was provided; two would have been much more comfortable. Given the heat and lack of cooling, not having a fridge to store water or snacks was a real downside.
All in all, while the Ibis Milano is well-situated, the rooms are in need of a significant upgrade. I wouldn’t recommend staying here during the summer months due to the ineffective air conditioning and lack of in-room fridge. There are likely better options nearby that offer more comfort for a similar price.
