Free parking 2 minutes walk Easy access with codes provided in advance. No staff on site, but we had no call for them. Old building with renovated modern touch to the room. Not for people with mobility issues, main staircase winding/step/narrow. Room clean but not thoroughly (dust on sockets) Iron & ironing board provided, plus kettle & tea/coffee/sugar/milk Huge bed, was comfy with nice linen Wardrobe with safe and desk/dressing table and a full length mirror Excellent value for money

The host was really helpful in sorting room changes etc and very friendly, although no check in so was new to just put in codes. Delightful stay, comfy bed, nice big tv, robes were a bonus! Shower was incredible, although, in a heat wave, some air con would have been great! Although, fan was provided in the room, it wasn’t powerful enough so just blew warm hot air! Not a complaint, just think if air con was invested in, it would make the stay even better! Would happily stay again

Room very clean, very comfortable, really well finished. Could do with extra pillow each, but thats personal preference. Location to venue we were going to was excellent. Accessibility not great to get to room as very steep marble stairs. But step free showers
Robes provided and had very generous toel sizes too

A really large bed and tv with plenty of choice . Blackout blinds and an extra fan to combat the hot weather .No real room service though and no on site staff to chat with, although plenty of info of who to contact for any issues . I found the room door lock fiddly at first but then realised that you have to run your fingers all over it to activate it and light it up. Once that happens then enter your code and you are in . Really good shower but the dispensers could have done with being topped up. Overall 8.5 to 9 out of 10

Fantastic hotel. We had a great stay in the Empress hotel. You can see the owner has not cut corners with fittings and facilities. Bathroom was very clean and new looking. I would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly. The only issue we had was, there were no toilet rolls in the bathroom. There's no staff on site so we called the remote support desk mine provided which was unmanned as well probably AI, so it took the request gave us the ticket number and then nothing. We purchased them for our needs from shops. Apart from this little issue, everything was so will kept that's I am still eating it top stars. If we are around Mexborough again, will definitely stay here again.

Rooms were clean and modern and the bed was comfy. However, the off road parking was about 300m in a town car park. The water in the shower was just tepid with no hot water at all in the wash basin taps. After informing the management , i got hot water in the shower but only with the flow lowered to almost a trickle.. I also got tepid water from the sink taps, but it suddenly went cold again halfway through cleaning my teeth. There were also instructions for a coffee machine but no machine and i dont like instant coffee.. I will not be staying there again.
