I’ve been through Methven a number of times but never stayed in town overnight, but the Brown Pub was a pleasant surprise, classic pub hotel, the food was excellent and staff as well. My room was much nicer than the photo, people in the pub were friendly and not rowdy, would definitely stay here again!

Cheap and cheerful room with decent beds. Staff were lovely and super helpful, and the communal showers and toilets were very clean.

meal was very average for the price. Steak was beautifully cooked but just came with fries and egg. Door to guest quarters needs oiling badly as squeaks terribly. very limited menu. No complimentary milk for tea & coffee. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Real old school character and charm to building. Bed very comfortable.

Suited us perfectly. Centrally situated. Staff most helpful and great to deal with. Kitchen to make tea/coffee was good. Only downside it is a joint bathroom and toilet, but is still most convenient as close to bedrooms.

Very handy for what I needed it for ((a night couple of day's out of ChCh I would've stayed Monday if I didnt have prior commitments. Staff are amazing, facilities clean as. Spacious as 👍 thank you for that I felt absolute spoiled. I will come down for a feed next stay it's just I'd bought kai from home. Comfortable as AND my friend's are interested I always share great awe how to say 🤔 experiences again thank you. Ah the booking was so easy

The Brown Pub is the ideal location for a cost effective holiday. I've stayed here a number of times and keep coming back. Remember, it's a pub so it goes off like a frog in a sock on Friday and Saturday nights - so either be part of the celebrations or wear ear plugs !! The staff are sensational - going that extra mile even into the wee hours of the morning. The rooms are clean and warm, the kitchen is great, stacks of hot water in the showers... and the WiFi is faster than at home ! Everything you could possibly need for a short stay or a family holiday. I'll be back.

I thought this place was excellent value for money. It is in a great location right on the Main Street - walking distance to everything. Akthough our room was quite small and basic the bed was very comfortable ( and large) sheets were a crisp cotton and very clean. The kitchenette was well kitted out and having a living space and verandah was excellent although both were tired and the living space a little overstuffed with a mishmash of furniture . The decor was also a mishmash but pretty inoffensive. The bathroom was very clean . I would stay again and recommend to others. I have no comment on the food as we didn’t eat at the hotel.

Room was priced reasonably. Staff were GREAT ! We were the only ones staying so it felt like we have the entire upstairs to ourselves. Shower was fantastic. Nice decor. Short walk to the pools.
