It needed cleaning! It could have been charming although rustic. By accident we met an older man whose family owned the building. He grew up there and was certainly sad to see it in such careless condition. So many missed possibilities.

A great little old style hotel in the Centro

An old style Mexican hotel in the Historico Centro of Merida at a reasonable price. I stayed here 20 years ago and it hasn't changed much since then and that's a good thing! I stayed in one of the rooms on the first floor which open unto the coutyard - the rooms are not large but the ceilings have to be close to 20 feet high, the doors, furniture, and the paneling are constructed of deep brown wood. The bathroom is small but the shower was hot and the water pressure excellent. The reception was friendly and efficient and the staff were eager to help. Just walk out the front door and you are only three blocks to the Main Plaza.

INCONFORME
