Location of hotel in St Kilda was excellent. The Tolarno itself has an arty boutique feel. It looks a bit tired in places but if you can past that I would stay again. 2 mins walk to great Irish bar - Fifth Province. You need to go there.

The room was very tired and had bad paintwork, patch up jobs everywhere. Bathroom ceiling was covered in mould, grout in shower mouldy. Dust all over ceiling fan and aircon looked dusty too, was spitting water on me the first night. Bed was comfortable and sheets were clean thank god. Floor in common areas looked un-vacuumed despite vacuum cleaner sitting out for most of day.

Love that the business has a history of Australian art, having connection to Mirka Mora, art gallery director and well known art collector. So good to see ongoing paintings of all sizes and contemporary styles in the rooms and hallways. Stephen at the front desk was very helpful and knowledgeable - a delightful person.

Convenience!

Hotel itself met all our needs for a couples get away. Intrigued by the art decors throughout the place. Convenient to everything from transport, restaurants, bars , shops and the beach!
